We have about 6 inches of snow on the ground, so got to play a bit on the road. 4 auto with traction and stability off and it's almost impossible to make it slide at all. It's really quick kicking in the front tires. Now I like to play, read slide all over, so I then put it in 2 wheel traction and stability off. It will slide, but it's much more difficult to do than my 13 FX4 was. I left it in normal mode, and as I'm sitting here thinking maybe sport mode would let me keep it in a drift easier. Seams to me that it shifts too soon without staying hard on the gas which stops the wheel spin. So good that it keeps traction, but also bad that it's harder to have my fun, lol. Turned over 500 miles on it today. Loving it more and more. Don't take that as me rubbing it in to those that don't have theirs. Just letting you know that it's worth the wait IMO. Hope this helps.
Bastard..... Let us non snow states people see a rooster tail of snow picture or something We might get flurries tonight in north Dallas suburbs, maybe school will be out tomorrow , jk Once I get my raptor, my son will shoot a video of me killing some dirt and mud on one of my projects with his new drone . We should start an action shot thread or is that too gay ( not that is anything wrong with that )
Ya see, my kids are grown and out of the house. So no one will stand in the freezing weather to video it. And I'll be damned if I let someone drive it so I can shoot the vid!
I now have over 1900 miles on the truck. Took it 750+ miles on a road trip up in the mountains. 85 mph with 50+ mph wind did not give me a good idea of the mileage I'll get, 12.5 round trip. I also have gotten a small rattle in the driver's side door I'll have to get figured out. Other than those things, the truck has been awesome. It rode great on the trip, keeping me safe with the wind, freezing roads, and my idiotic driving in less than ideal conditions. As for the much talked about tranny, I'll say it's slow to downshift if your soft on the throttle. But it will drop 2 gears real quick if the wind and hills warrant a downshift. Got to play with a Ram on the winding roads up the mountain. Going by the sound from his exhaust and him losing traction exiting several turns I'd say he was trying to show me up. Stuck right on his bumper without going over half throttle. Then on the way home ran across another 17 Raptor, Ruby red, looked great. And something about a woman behind the wheel of a nice truck makes her look better.
Vikes- now that you have had your new truck awhile, how do you like the performance? Power, torque, handling on road and off?
Power good. From a stop it feels quite fast, especially for a truck. A rolling start it isn't quite as impressive, but keep in mind I haven't messed around much with sport mode. I'm not a fan on how long it keeps the gears in sport. Road manners are awesome. Haven't had it in a position were I was nervous whether that's at 100mph or in snow or on Ice. Off road I've only done some light duty. It did everything I threw at it with ease, but so would most 4Xs. What I noticed most was how the suspension soaked up the ruts and rocks. Let me know if you have other questions.
82 inches is what it measures at. And if you didn't catch it, I needed to put a shorty antenna to get it in the door.
