So I'm beginning to see more and more threads about transmissions issues across the web and I think my truck might be another victim of this spreading problem. To give you guys an insight, I drove my 2017 truck up from TX to NJ over the weekend and had no issues with it. The truck has about 44k miles and I made sure to do an oil change before the trip. However, this week I began noticing that the truck makes a hard shift into 2nd. This only seems to occur after I turn the truck on and pull out of the driveway. Not sure why this is happening but I suspect that it may have to do with this transmission problem that other owners are experiencing. If you guys have any thoughts or recommendations please let me know! Thanks!
Maybe not, could be the valve cover or just TCM PCM needing updated shift points to smooth out the rough shifts and downshifts. Ask you dealer to flash both and update the transmission and see how that works out.
Note, the transmission drives different cold, like the truck protecting itself. This made it hard to diagnose mine since garbage kept testing cold and you could pull in sport with no issues. Once warm on transmission, same pull in sport would feel like back and of truck was left in road while shifting 1 to 2. Could feel this in normal, but way easier to feel in sport hot.
Please reflash and update before turning wrenches. This transmission has exhibited the symptoms you are describing without there being an issue. Often a design issue rather then mechanical. Once you open up the wrench turning can things can go south in a hurry. I have 68K on mine. This truck has always shifted hard in lower gears. I also own a Gen 1. It doesn’t have the trans hard shift.
