yup, what he said
While perusing the new owners manual for my 17 Rapter, I discovered, to my horror of whores, that the new 3.5 EBTT's will have a sealed engine case. THAT'S RIGHT-----NO OIL CHANGES. This is gonna save so much more $$$$.
Lighter weight=less tire wear
Sealed transmission=no fluid changes
Sealed transfer case=no fluid changes
Sealed engine case=no fluid changes
Lighter weight=better MPG
I will keep reading to find out if the cooling system is also sealed.
Have you really been working on that post since April 1?
My wife's 2011 Edge has IOLM. Love it.
After having several oil analysis' done on previous vehicles ... I now run Penzoil Platinum Full Synthetic almost exclusively. If the new HO 3.5 calls for Full Synthetic (Like I assume it will) ... I'll likely stick with Penz Plat.
I tend to do the first oil change at less than 1,000 miles (Amazing how many metallic flakes come out in that first oil change). I send that off for analysis to make sure everything coming back looks good. Next Oil change is at 10,000 miles, and every 10,000 miles after that.
For those wondering, I've used these guys atleast half a dozen times. Turn around time and results have been excellent: http://www.blackstone-labs.com/standard-analysis.php
anyone know what the oil change on a new raptor will cost?
Also, have they released the service intervals? How many miles per change?
Free for the first 2 years with my dealer.
After reading the owners manuals it looks like the truck has oil life indicators and factors in your driving to tell you when to change the oil.
You can find the owners manuals on Ford's website.
I change my oil to the Ford recommended oil and filter at 500 Miles 1500 miles 3000 Miles and then every 3,000 after that. My 96 F150 had 377xxx miles on it before I sold it running, my 2004 F150 5.4 has 296xxx miles on it.
Changing oil at 2000 miles for 1st change
Dealer has no ford racing filters and can't see it in system to order
So regular filter with full synthetic oil for me
But at least I did manage to get the piped in exhaust note turned off
Dealer turned it off for you?
Yes dealer Service tech did it
Service rep and manager were clueless the exhaust sound audible even existed , but got a tech that knocked it out fast
Does it make THAT of a difference?
