I see your from Texas. Where did you have it installed?
Did you have the dealership install? Did your installer have any trouble that you know of? About how long did the install take?
Jmorris, I got it done at a shop called Texas Motorworx in McKinney (Dallas Area). Seems like a very reputable shop with lots of experience specifically with Raptors. That being said most of their experience is with Gen 1's however, these collars are not too dis-similar from the perch mod done on Gen 1's which they have done many. They have these in stock and also do an alignment at the local Ford dealer right after so all in all I was very satisfied with the product and install. Hope that helps. Give them a call, ask for Jason 214-785-6568
wparish81, I personally would stay away from having the dealership install (just my opinion). The installer had no trouble what so ever, its a pretty simple install really. Doesn't take that long, probably 1-2 hours then an alignment right after is recommended.
That is really helpful info. I actually live in Argyle so McKinney is only a 45 min drive. I will be calling them tomorrow. Thanks again!
I have a big order coming in of these . $285 shipped to your door ! Let me know if we can you on the list and get a set your way . give me a call at the shop . 702-202-1263 or send me a PM here . Sorry for the delayed reply we have been extremely busy with race season starting .
Stupid question but would this perch mod void any suspension warranty ??
I live in prosper, TX and will hit this Mckinney shop as well
This part should not void any warranty at all . All it is doing is preloading the spring nothing more .
My concern with this lift is that in order to get approx1.5" of body lift there is a fairly extensive pre load required on the front spring. Mainly ride quality concerns and testaments from friends who have done a front end lift on the f150 trucks previously. Make no mistake your Cush ride quality you are currently getting from stock raptor shocks and coil over springs will be compromised.
I'm agreeing with G here. The FX4 I traded in had 3 up front, do a bit more. Buy the ride was definitely stiffer. Most roads it was fine, but sharp bumps not so much.
No doubt after having these installed on my truck the ride is a little stiffer/firmer in the front, but to me it actually feels better than factory. I did not have a Gen 1 however, most that did said they preferred the ride better after the perch mod was done (similar to what I did with these collars on Gen 2). Any previous Gen 1 owners please feel free to chime in if that is in deed true. On a side note, I too have had many leveled/lifted trucks in my past, some worked well some didn't, but this simple perch mod I would not consider a "lift kit" as it does not change the geometry of the factory set up.
Had texas motorworx install the perch collars today. So far I am very pleased with the ride and look. I have to agree with TXRAPTR 100%. It is slightly stiffer(barely noticeable IMO) I do like the fact that it doesn't nose dive under braking like it did before.
I have a set on the way as well. I will be doing the install myself. I watched the video for the Gen1 perch mod and it's not complicated. The Gen2 uses the same procedure, however you are installing the 1.5 clamp into the perch grove, whereas the Gen1 you pop out the retaining ring, and move it up to second notch.
I had a 4" and 6" lift on my F350 and I thought it improved the ride and braking. I also took the 350 in for some suspension work at the dealership. They gave me no issues ,and covered some of the repairs through the extended warranty.
Ya it's a simple job if you have the tools. I'm just lazy haha.
Awesome! glad that worked out for you Jmorris, I too am very happy with that mod.
