My "new" to me, completely loaded 2018 Ruby Red 802a. Will be adding live-valves and the 2020 bead-lock wheels with the ford performance locking rings in the near future.
Love the ruby red! Do you know the build date on your 18? I ask because you will want to see if yours was an early build with the plastic oil pan (prone to leaks). Also, listen to a cold start to make sure you don't hear rattling (like marbles in a can). It would be 3-5 second rattle. If you hear it, your cam phasers have failed. This is a known issue on the ecoboost and there are revised parts to install via TSB. Nobody is sure if these new parts solve the problem - latest design is too new to be sure. However, some are reporting that these new ones are rattling too. This cam phaser is a failure of the pins to lock in on start. They do not get oil pressure quick enough and break. It is a design issue on the oil flow path feeding them.
Thanks, love the Ruby Red also. Definitely wasn't my first color choice compared to white or black but this was a good deal and the Ruby Red looks great in person, bright but dark and bold at the same time, always looks clean too. Haha, yes, I am familiar with everything on these trucks. I have the Ford ESP PremiumCare warranty, so I am not worried. The truck has 77k miles and has not had the phasers replaced.
Haha, don't worry boss. I am all too familiar with the Bravo3Eco forum posts and fiascos on both here and the regular FRF. He is right though, gotta keep an eye on these phasers - but they aren't that big of a deal, especially covered under warranty.
