Gents, I'm just getting back from Denver and have almost 2000 mi on my truck. It's still breaking in and i'l learning that taking MPG averages are different depending how and when you do it. Logical would say reset trip computers at the gas station. However i noticed that if you do it while filling and you let the clock run it's working against you. Same with until your up to speed. I notice that if i do a reset once up to speed i get a much different reading. Ok, what have i been getting. The two days in Denver city driving the mi sucked furry Donkey nuts!!!!! Now, i'll admit, i may have been having a little fun with the turbo's!!!! Real world 2 lane country roads which is what i was on most of the time between Denver/Santa Fe/DFW. Getting the 18 Ford claimed was doable and not very hard to achieve. Even at 70 mph. I would be more comfortable in telling you all that it's easier on open highway where you're going to probably have less track to get around and not taking ascends/descends like you do on the back roads. Wait for it!!!!!! Yes, real world driving..... Wait for it!!!!!! I was getting better then 18 mpg at times for considerable distances. Still waiting? I was actually hitting 20+ in the 65 mph range. So in a nut shell, yes the Ford #'s are realistic but it depends more on you and your driving style. You bought a Raptor not a Prius. You bought the Raptor so you can drive over the Prius so don't complain about the fuel economy. If you're having a real problem with it then have a come to Jesus talk with your right foot about it......
I'm at sea level and often drive 75 mile commutes one way to work on a straight flat interstate. 150 round trip. At 73mph set on the cruise I get 14.9-15.2. No better. This is with light use of the throttle. Either I have a complete gas hog or you have an ultra efficient one.
I'll post some pictures that i sent to my work email. I knew folks wouldn't believe me without seeing it. Don't blame ya though, i was a bit surprised myself. As i just got home yesterday, i'm home all this weekend. Next weekend making a run to Chicago to see family. That'll be straight HWY so i'll do some more recording.
Hey bud, Oh I believe you. I was just busting your chops. Did you get the mileage on a very long trip? Maybe the altitude has something to do with it and/or the differences in regional gas. I've genuinely not cracked low 16.
I didn't take it personally, don't worry. Yes, i was running for some good distances. Some hwy and some two lane country rds. I've only had a few tanks now through and it seems to vary from one tank to the next. Also i've been trying to at least run mid grade in it at all times (or better depending on fuel prices) Again, this is just my experience. It'll probably Monday when i upload more pictures, i've sent stuff from my phone to the work email and i'm avoiding work as long as i can stretch this vacation.....
On my Feb 4th trip from South FL to Valdosta GA I was getting 18.2 when cruise was set to 75mph, when I bumped it up to 80 I dropped down to 16.4. She only had 150 miles when we started out so this is without fully breaking in for the engine.
Thank God for levity. And while I didn't buy the Raptor (still waiting for it to be delivered) to run over a Prius, I have to admit that made me *chuckle* since I often find them stuck in the left hand (passing only) lane.
4000k + and i'm not seeing an improvement to MPG. What really frustrates me is at time of pick up from dealer i was reading 425 miles on range for the tank. No mater what i reset i never get that range to show and it seems to go down with every fill up......
Hmm, mine has been getting better at a slow rate. I'm up to high 16s on the interstate and 15s in town.
Last Weekend I finally hit 1000 miles. I did a reset before i drove 107 miles with an average speed of 80.7. I got about 17.2 miles and this is with 91 with 10% ethanol. Auto Start Stop was enabled. There were a few traffic jams and a few quick take offs. Normal driving mode. IM trying to upload the photos i took but for some reason, its not seeing it.
Just hit 1100 miles. My beast has only seen 93. I am consistent at 17.3mpg. I did notice a slight improvement when I out a tank of Sunoco 93. Going to do the next 1000 with 91 and see what happens.
