    good morning,

So I took my first long highway drive today. Average speed 72. Adaptive cruise set. Clear highway. No stop and go. 70 miles of driving.

The average mpg was cleared prior to getting on the open highway.

The average mpg for the trip was 15.

Driving locally and being a little playful on the gas pedal and it's 9-10.

It's no where near the claims, not that I expected any different.

Its my understanding that MPG will improve over time and break-in. I've heard this from friends who have eco boost motors. second hand info tho

That's with 91 octane or higher? No 10% ethanol fuel?

    Seems like English to me.

He is asking what octane rating gasoline the OP is using.

He also wants to know if its 10% ethanol (the norm these days for pretty much every gas station in the USA).

I too would like to know the answers to these questions. Doesnt sound much better than my gen 1, and I use 87 E10 with it...

What part of that question was confusing Gdog? Let me break it down even more for our more "simple" members that feel they need to chime in with no useful info...... some states, like mine have 10% ethanol added into every fuel grade at the pumps, meaning worse gas mileage over finding a gas station that has non-ethanol fuel. I'm simply seeing if his 15mpg average on highway was due to this as a possibility since he did not state what fuel he was using, hence me asking the question!!!!!!

I have used 91 with 10% ethanol and am getting just under 14. I have over 800 miles on it and no tank has been all highway or in town. Also know I'made over 6000' here. 9-10 seems extremely low for a little playful.

And my 13 FX4 eco did improve in mileage from new all the way to 10k miles. Not a lot, probably 2 mpg.

just curious - what elevation is most of your driving at ? could that effect mpg that much ? I now have 900 miles on my Raptor - most are 20 to 30 minute trips - some 30 mph around town and many 50 to 60 mph for 10 or 15 minutes at a time. 400 miles where a road trip (200 miles each way) 70 to 75 highway one way (sport mode) and the other 200 miles was in light snow 55 to 60 mph in AWD mode. my total since new MPG is 16.7

also - ive been using 93 octane - 10% ethanol (mostly Citgo Premium)

edit - on that road trip each leg had at least 20 to 30 minutes worth of stop and go traffic - mostly around the Harford Ct area. and i live at about 1000 ft above sea level..

I'm a rig manager on a drilling rig so I don't have it too bad while we are drilling ahead. Not a bad gig and yes I have a lot of time to do as I please :)

    Ok...

So the fuel? No idea! It's the original full dealer tank. I am guessing it has ethanol in it as all of NJ does. I'd hope they gave me premium but who knows.

The elevation is flat, sea level.

    Hope that helps

My 13' eco was getting 16.5 mpg and after a few tanks of 91 octane with 10% ethanol I was getting 18 Mpg to a tank. I understand this is a different animal but I'm confident after an oil change and some mileage it will get a little better. If not there is always Livernois :) I'm looking forward to them getting a truck and some run files put together with some dyno numbers
