Hey guys, I'm going to be doing the Ceramic Pro Gold or Silver package as well as a lite paint correction soon to maintain the paint on the Raptor. I have a really good detailer here locally in the Los Angeles area named Daniel, he owns 'Private Collection Auto Care' (310)-880-9147 he specializes in mostly exotics but has done a number of second Generation Raptors to date! I went in yesterday to show him the truck and let him examine the paint, he had just completed a paint correction and Ceramic Pro Silver on a shadow black 2017 raptor. The truck looks insane, better then new and its fully coated. My feeling is if we are spending this kind of money on a truck we should consider a proper paint protection (not that ceramic pro protects against everything, mostly an easy way to keep your truck clean) What do you guys think?? I'm really curious to know what sort of negative effects if any this could have, or if its all just BS. Obviously if money was no object we would just clear bra the entire truck but thats looking like a $6k-$7k job.
I appreciate the benefits of some of the high end coatings but in my opinion nothing protects like a high quality paint protection film. Ive got my front end covered in XPEL ULTIMATE. and more recently had another car redone (had old 3m film on it that turned yellow - which looks like shiit on a white car!) Had it redone with STEK DYNOshield. Like them both and happy to debate / discuss the merits of either one.
The ceramic coating would keep you from having to wax your truck, but you still would need to maintain the coating. The ceramic coatings can’t be compared to paint protection films. They are two very different things. The ppf will protect the paint from physical damage, the ceramic coating really doesn’t. I coat my vehicles with cquartz uk, and maintain it with carpro reload and carpro essense plus. The coatings look great, are easy to clean/maintain, and last much longer than traditional wax/sealants.
I also did xpel on front end and 18" of front hood and then cquartz the whole thing It's pricey but looks bad ass and east to wash Keep in mind , any commercial wash even hand spray at commercial coin place will strip the cquartz per they guidance
I did CZq on the truck - it was amazing how crappy the paint is on the truck. It took my detailer 2 weeks to paint correct. (It is a black truck) but so far, worth it. It takes me <10m to clean the entire truck and make it look crisp and new. Plus I do not stress out about dust scratching anymore.
It is worth it to me. I cant afford xpel and dont plan on a ton of offroading. 3 days to correct paint than ceramic wax and seal with tiint package too. Xpel dealer wanted 2000 ish for only the front and sides to be covered. A bit over my financial liking. I did the Gold 5 year ceramic 2 coats of high and 1 coat low wax.
Im not the best photographer guys but looks sharp as easy to clean as well with bugs dirt tree sap etc
I used the Gyeon Synchro ceramic coating system. Did paint correction before the coating. Only had it applied for about 2 weeks so I can’t give a review of it yet. I have washed it once since application and the truck was easier and quicker to clean. The water just falls off the surface.
