Has anyone had any Cam shaft issues with their 2017s?

I haven’t heard or seen anything about cam issues. What do you have going on?

Some have failed cams and timing chains, not super uncommon. Some have started at like 3k miles other not until way later. Hard to judge the differences. 30k on my 17 and I am knocking on wood everyday

Heard a knocking. Took it in to the dealership and they said it is a cam shaft defect. Ford is replacing the motor..

I have heard some cams issues, I have nothing either and my truck is perfect. I think its very small percentage but of the knocking and issues with noise, most are cam or chain issues. Sorry for dumping on the doom ha

I think you are referring to the cam phasers. The actual cam is fine. These ecoboost engines have very poor oiling to the cam phasers and the rattling you hear on startup is the phasers chewing themselves up. Once that happens, they stretch the chain.

I just encountered a camshaft issue with my 2018 with 8k miles. I just contacted the factory and the dealer. I am an attorney and I will take legal action of Ford does not properly handle this issue. Pending the outcome of my issue, I will update you and try to help if I can.

FYI - There is an aftermarket company that has taken on this cam phaser failure issue. They have detailed why these WILL fail on all 3.5 ecoboost engines and are working on a proper design fix. They are in validation stage with their parts currently.
The only issue is the owner is on the hook for all of the cost to fix this. Current teardown and rebuild is $6k plus.... Lots of time. With these new parts, not sure how much they will cost.
