hey all, so the truck just got fixed, all hail damage repaired and I have been having what I think is most likely electronics issues since getting it back a few weeks ago

The day I picked it up the terrain management and power steering wouldn't work, they had disconnected the moon roof and they said they hear that happened for some weird reason when putting it back together in the ford trucks... bizarre. Did a battery reset and it worked fine until....

Drove it from denver to Jackson hole Wyoming and turn it on on day 2 , the wrench light shows up with generic, "see manual". Truck runs perfectly fine and the light just shuts off next start up. No limp mode. Runs great till next day, I'm driving through downtown jacksOn and the truck just loses power and shuts off and I literally putter into a parking lot.. in Jackson Wyoming with all of my camping equipment in Curtis canyon.. sitting in a 65,000 dollar paper weight. I tried to start it up... it turned over like they starter was trying and it wouldn't start. Waited a few minutes and it started up fine with the wrench... then the wrenche shut off and it ran perfectly fine. There is something electronic...

at this point I really need help understanding things and how ford approaches this. I'm hoping someone has experience with this. And if there is anyone that has had similar problem with a truck that has 6k just shutting off.. I know the body control module sits close to the exhaust and it has caused drive off the lot shut downs for some of you all. This sounds eerily similar

    1. Will ford cover the tow to denver eventually?
    2. I rented a car to get to denver tommorrow, will they cover that?
    3. This thing has had electronics problems since they day i bought it. What recourse is there for getting it called a "lemon" if this is the beggining of a series of issues.

I feel like I've barely been able to drive the thing and really don't trust it in the wilderness like I could my Jeep. I'm sad to say that i unfortunately consider it kind of a pos at this point.

Wow. That really sucks. Lemon laws are established at the state level so need to look there first. Here's a document I dug up:

As for the towing and rental, you certainly have an argument for Ford picking up that tab but you might possibly have to push or this. Hopefully they will see the light. You had no other choice.

    Wish you luck.

I doubt they will tow it to Denver as its usually the closest Ford dealer. I also doubt they will cover the rental unless you contacted them first. They would have set you up with one.

I doubt they will offer but play it. Tell them you're single and it's the only car you own. It's completely the fault of the repair facility assuming it all started after that. Don't think you're asking for anything unfair so push hard. The very LEAST, they should pay for a rental car to go pick it up when complete if serviced locally at Jackson Hole. Your time is just as billable as theirs. Ford has ponied up when pushed.

The truck seems absolutely f'd. It threw 10 codes. Battery short circuited. They don't know what's wrong at this point. It could be inherent problem with truck or weather related from hail. I can tell you it's been having bizarre electronics behaviors from day one. Wouldn't start on day 2. I'm worried, I think this is gonna be an expensive fix with ford verse insurance versus body shop. I've driven this thing 3 months out of 7 months I have owned it. 70,000 dollar nightmare.

So mine has gotten much worse.. i have another post that I updated last night.

Just pulled up to the service dept and the girl says "we are actually six days behind so we won't even be able to look at it until then" my reply was " that's fine, just give me a car and I'll be on my way." She says " oh, Ford doesn't give cars." So I guess I should just get back in this death trap then, with no airbags, brakes, traction control or power steering and head back to the house then..

    Absolutely incredible!!

What problems have you had? Let's start convo, I'm curious to hear, there are a lot of stories floating around the different shops I have talked to about similar electronics rats nests with the gen 2 raptors.

My power steering and terrain management was disabled the day I picked it up from the body shop! I had to disconnect the battery. Everything worked from then on until now. We need to see what similarities there are between our truck problems. I'm selling this thing asap. I could have been in Wyoming at negative 20 with my sled on the back with a dead truck and in serious trouble. Luckily my truck just shut off downtown Jackson hole and I was able to roll into a parking lot. Unacceptable and laughable at 6100 miles.

Both of you are having shitty luck and no-one should have to deal with this. I hope you don't have any mods on them that Ford can point to, because that is when their lawyers will take over. Really want to hear how this goes from here so please keep us informed.

One of the master techs who hasn't seen truck yet says story sounds like electronic throttle body. Makes sense so far. Getting it back from Wyoming this week somehow will be interesting.

Unless there is discrete problem found that is fixed I'm forced to consider sale. I'm blessed that this is my snow and sand toy only and not daily driver. I can't be in the snowies in Wyoming or 50 miles deep down in utah desert and have this happen. I had a wrangler I pushed to the max and didn't have a single warning light in 5 years. Should be hearing this week.

I hear ya. With every new car you have a chance of this crap. Especially with a first model year of a high tech mobile. Don't get me wrong, if I was in your shoes I may be thinking the same thing. I got so pissed at BMW that I dropped off my 5 series and said its yours not caring about the money because of continuous problems.
