my raptor story . I was looking for a new truck and thought to build an f150 supercab with 5.0 / 3.73 gears , so after an online build I found the raptor was not much more pricewise 15k with discounts and all . so I set my sights on the raptor in Jan 17 , looked online and called all around 4 states , found this site and membered up . I drove three weekends looking and getting we have none or 5-10k over on off the lot trucks but I wanted MY truck , built like I wanted ( supercab , magnetic ,801A , torson front , remote start , and moonroof ) so after searching high and low and getting discouraged I found an email for the CEO of Ford and dropped an email his way, thinking this will not go anywhere ? . after working a night shift , I got home set down and the phone rings .. hello is this the guru.. yes .. I hear you need a truck .. yes yes I do ... I was told to get you in a raptor ...... OK i'll be right there . . click . I did talk to this dealer before with no luck , had no allocations . but Ford called and helped them and me out. so I go to order the raptor and at MSRP . the dealer was great to deal with , nothing shady , and will give a shout out later. I ordered on 2/26 , VIN about a month later built on 4/9 and first ETA on 4/17 . the ETA moved out later but all good . I love this truck . I have not played with all the buttons yet but WOW . as I type this I'm smoking an A Fuente Forbidden Lost City to celebrate my good luck and living right . now the pics
Lucky bastard. Now enjoy the truck, and quit killing yourself with the smokes. Have to live a long life to enjoy that beast.
Congrats on the new baby. Don't listen to Vikes as getting that truck deserves two cigars!!! Smoke it up!
Speaking of cigars - I think I'm the only member to order the Smoker's Package. My service manager tried to install it yesterday. The installation would require major cosmetic alterations. I won't. Any future buyers out there - don't order the Smoker's Package.
Hey dirtrider, Thanks for looking out for my health. I gave up smoking a pack a day back in 1970. I ordered the Smoker's Package because I have several accessories that you plug into the old type cigar lighter. It was cheaper to buy the package than to buy all new accessories to fit the new power outlets. I still hope to get a refund.
I didn't order the smokers pack . I don't smoke in the trucks or cars . I now have 5 autos . the raptor, 05 gmc , 13 kia optima (commuter car) , 76 corvette ,and 94 jeep Cherokee 8"longarm lift . anybody need a car ,my yard is full LOL
As my service manager explained it to me - There are a number of adapters that are used when sliding the cigar lighter into the vehicle's power point. He told me the power point opening would have to be filed in order to accept a mounting ring. In his opinion, that would cosmetically effect the power point and suggested that I not do the installation. I do know that just pushing the cigar lighter into the vehicle's power point will not work. There needs to be some type of heating element which is an adapter included with the package. Do you have your vehicle? Did you have the Smoker's Package installed by your dealer? If so , what alterations were made?
So since you still have it, or I assume you do, I am curious..... 1) in the package, is there a modification ring in there? Or is it just the lighter and coin/ash cup? 2) what happens if you plug the lighter into the 12v port? I was going to order the smokers package, but figured I would pick it up after the order. (Yes I smoke)
Hey Nexmeister, Please understand I am not real tech savy - I'm the guy with a flip phone that won't pair with my Raptor. I typed a number printed on the instruction sheet into Google search and found this site - {PDF} Ford Customer, tif When I clicked on that site, the same instructions that came with with my package appeared. The number is SK5L8J-7804803-AC I have all those parts as shown. I won't have access to my truck for at least a day, so I can't plug in the lighter. I do know the package must be added for the lighter to work. My service manager did not give me a lot of details other than installing the package would cause cosmetic damage. I will get back to him later this week and try to find the exact problem. My guess is the filing that would be done in step 3B to the power point opening would be the damage.
