Yes, they actually offered that to me as well when I spoke to them which is awesome on one hand, but on the other I am gambling big time with them "swinging through my town" flashing my truck with their computer and leaving town. Meaning I have no support in case something goes wrong or the tune is not good and since they are still in such early stages there is good possibility for that. Therefore, I will wait for a fully released/supported product, which they indicated should be soon as well. Let me know too on the other local guy, also Manny at HPP does a real nice job with Custom tunes in the DFW area.

I have never tuned a Ford but do have experience with aftermarket tuners for Audi/VW - i have had a couple tuned cars. My experience where both good. I attribute that to 3 things - 1. getting a tune from a reputable company - in my case it was APR for both my cars. 2. Listening to the tuner reps - most will tell you not to look for MAX HP/TRQ but simply a nice bump. The manufacturers leave plenty on the table with these Turbo charged engines mostly in the name of fuel economy and not wanting to insist people run 93 octane. 3. Being honest with your dealer about the tune. THIS can be tricky!! My local VW/Audi dealer was very cool about tuning my cars and even went so far as to recommend a few shops that tune and steered me towards APR.

With everything I have read that Ford Performance did to beef up this engine above and beyond the normal 3.5L eco-boost I would bet for $500 bucks and 93 octane all the time that there will be a nice little bump in WHP and torque. I will have a chat with my local service guys at Ford - I bet somebody there already has a tuned eco-boost that can shine some light on the subject.

Maybe even Ford Performance will come out with a tune ? Have to wait and see.

I am sure for all my good experiences there are a hundred stories of blown up engines and no warranties to be found!

For me - its a already a great truck and already a pretty damn quick one - unless it comes from Ford I probably will pass.

So I tuned my 13 ecoboost from 5 Star. They were over the top helpful because I wasn't satisfied. I actually ordered from Stage 3 that I have had great luck with over the last 10 years and they recommended 5 Stars tune. Anyway, the tune was awesome for driveability, i just wasn't happy with WOT. Like I said before, they offered a warranty for this tune so that made me trust it more.

So on the Ford front, it is a tricky subject now. The old engines they really didn't care. But since the coyote motor and tunes grenading the engine, they have been voiding warranties. Lawyers say Ford has to prove the tune caused it. But remember that they rather spend more on lawyers to beat you in court than to set a precedence of paying for everyone's engine.

Just what I learned from tuning Mustangs. I'm sure it won't be any different on the trucks.

I am not a fan of canned tunes, maybe because I believe in setting it up for exactly what the vehicle has done to it, not just broad stroke tuning. I have a CTSV that has been tuned multiple times for all the changes I've done to it, and the TCM has gotten a fair amount of attention to ensure longevity. I would like to think that these guys are doing the homework necessary to create a solid tune that will go the distance on a stock engine, but what if you do other mods to it- ie: more boost, meth injection, even cam swaps? How will those be supported? My Caddy is tuned with HP Tuners, can this truck be tuned with HPT? I'm being somewhat of a devils advocate here, as 99% of the owners will never do any more than a tune and CAI. I am just curious as to the options.

Once again I'm talking previously, but they would ask what you've done and set the tune up for that. And when going through Stage 3 they said free tunes for your changes if you purchased the parts through them.

That maybe, but the PC is an amazing add on, all I can say is get one or get it installed and you will be a happy camper. What a difference it makes and it has no affect on your warranty.

that's about right, 20% residual loss with this drivetrain. You gonna put it back on the rollers after 2,000 miles?
