So I ordered my 2017 Raptor in November 2016 and it is now almost April and no build date! I thought 5 months should be long enough or am being unreasonable? Please share your info and put me at ease or stress me out lol. Thanks

Ordered mine 1-16-17 and still don't have a VIN or build date. It's a touchy subject with a lot of guys that still haven't taken delivery of their trucks yet. If you got an "allocation" to spec your truck out the way you wanted it be prepared to wait.....their are alot of early build guys that waited 7 months and finally got their trucks. It's a shitty process but well worth the wait.

As i am sure you know order date and delivery date are very poorly correlated. If that is the reason for the thread i dont think you will get the answers you want..

Allocations are very important part to the equation. My story - live near 2 small dealers. One very small family owned dealer was told by Ford they will not get any allocations but could always order a truck and see what happens. I went to the slightly larger dealer. They were told they have 2 allocations. I was the second one on their waiting list with a 500 deposit in June of 2016. Other guy was the like the owners nephew or something. So dealer calls back a few months later and tells me and the other guy the order book is opening to get trucks built on paper and into the system. I go down on Aug 17th and fill out the paper work - agree on MSRP and order the my truck and sign the papers. The other guy comes in does that same..

I get a call a few weeks later, when we THOUGHT we might get trucks in around Thanksgiving, that the other guy was not "ready" yet and said I could get the first spot and he would take the second. So the dealer switched our orders. Another couple weeks later im told i have a "build date" and a window sticker was generated. SOOO - long story short my truck came in Jan 5th and the 2nd allocation not until last week - i believe March 16th. Neither one of us had carbon fiber or bead lock wheels- BOTH of those components have been in short supply and have effected the order in which orders have been pulled for build. Also there was a 4 to 6 weeks DELAY due to Ford halting all shipments so they could adjust the mapping / programming of the 10 speed transmission.

anyway - hope that helps a little bit. There are many more factors that come into play like priority numbers and dealers playing games with markups. Needless to say its been a frustrating process for most and has been borderline infuriating for some.

fyi - i stopped into my dealer to pick some touch up paint other day and asked the sales manager so what if somebody wanted a truck now - he said they can order a truck but it would be a 2018. if all stars lined up maybe a late 2017 delivery. I guess that is because he did not have any allocations left? im not sure. Also was told the "unofficial" number of 2017 Raptors is 5500 units. Dont know if anybody can confirm that.

Good luck - i think its worth the pain and suffering..

Thanks VT. Great detail but let's not forget that our dealers where nearly zero help with info back then and those of us early builds had to get our info on our own!! Then we shared with others and if we were feeling like it our dealers. Was quite the cluster fuck regarding available info back then!!

very true... Honestly - and ill start by saying - I like FORD. I really like my 2013 EDGE SPORT and love my Raptor but boy did FOMOCO fuk this process up to the N th degree. This could have been so much better handled. Anyway the community here in the Forum has been awesome. thanks guys.. and girls ?

I think a lot of the miss info and frustration should be put on the dealers not being upfront with there customers about the process and just taking orders that they have no allocation for with the hope that ford would give them more allocation like most of the rest of the rigs ford builds. They do know what allocations they have and If a dealer has 4 allocations he knows that he will get appox. one allocated to there dealership every quarter, they have to know that, now they may not want to tell you that if your say number 4 because you may go some where else and that's where I think they go wrong with you guys that have been waiting forever, they should just be honest and most would be willing to wait, lets just hope and pray that some of you that have been waiting forever are not number 5 or 6 allocation in my above scenario.

Dealers also purchase allocations from other dealers. Let's not forget that !! Then you get into bigger ADM,s$$$

I was 9 of 9 allocations. Ordered 2/7. Build date 4/17. No beadlocks, no CF.

The early folks suffered through transmission delays, I believe dash recall slowing builds, and more infuriating: a massive build for China. It appears ford has gotten the kinks worked out and are in the throws of cranking them out now.

Ordered Nov.3rd still nothing yet, dealer says to relax that I'm next, but I think about it at least 12 hours a day. The dealer told me 3-6 months, but one has to think if I have no VIN or build date at almost 5 months how will I get it by May 3rd?
Like spoken before the allocations have to play out. On other sites there's guys that ordered in Feb. and already have taken delivery. But they suck LOL.

Not that this will help, but a lot of what you guys are talking about is true! Dealers ran out of allocations and are waiting on ford to see what they have left for the year! Pure my dealer! Lucky me I finally got a vin and a build date with beadlock wheels on a actual allocation that my dealer had! My dealer told me they got another allocation from ford because a small mom and pop dealer didn't want theirs, but they can't order it until the next quarter! I think my dealer was honest with me from the start! I'm a first time buyer from this dealer and I told him I was willing to wait for an 18 if I had to! I drove my neighbors 17 Raptor and it is worth the wait! What a awesome truck!

Ordered 9/23, when I was told July build I found a dealer 2 hrs from home with an allocation at MSRP that had a build date of 3/13 so I cancelled my order 2/1 and committed on the other one and was able to choose all my options. 3/15 it arrived at the dealer early. It is so worth the wait.
