I have not ordered my truck yet but what say you on the torson front diff . I don't think I need it but what is the opinion of it. I will not be hardcore on the truck .
right no 802 . to mr clean , if I order now I won't get it this year ? is it that backed up? I was hoping 3/5months
I think most of the 2017 Allocation is spoken for. That said it doesn't mean there's a customer for each unit dealers have ordered. When i picked up my truck a week ago my dealer had all 17 of his spoken for and was taking orders already on 2018's and had indicated that they were going to come out earlier in 2017. Not sure on whats fact or fiction
what I would like to order : supercab , magnetic 801A, remote start, and single panel moonroof . that's it , not complicated at all I think
Talked to a dealer in Vegas today that said they've already received their entire initial allocation of 33 and have been getting more added one or two at a time. Said that one ordered now would probably be delivered in 10-12 weeks. But like you said, hard to know whats fact or fiction for sure. Also said that they've been charging 5k over MSRP which keeps them from getting a massive pile of orders backed up, said another dealer in town will take a deposit at MSRP but there will be 40 people ahead of you on the list.
I'm really on the fence with the torson . my thoughts are if I don't need it , is it costing me MPG'S and needless popping in the front in tight turns, and wearing out the front end with these extra parts . were these offered in gen 1's . any long term wear problems
I think the Torson must eliminate a bunch of un-reliable gadgets. I have replaced three of the vacuum pistons on my 2005 f150 and two valves, repaired a leak in one of the rubber vacuum lines over the twelve years I have owned it. I don't think the Torson will affect mileage, in a straight line, the extra gears do nothing. I ordered it for mine.
If you get the 802A package the you'll get it. Otherwise you have to order it as an add on. The hole point of the Torrsen is it's mechanical so there shouldn't be valves and hoses like with a locker set up. Also it eliminates the front end hop when in 4x4 and you have an uneven trq split. Yes, it was an option on Gen 1 trucks and no i haven't heard of any problems with it. It's an overall better setup then a locked front end unless you plan on taking that $70k truck extreme rock crawling every weekend and i doubt then. So let me bottom line it for you: Get it with the (802A) package, you'll be happy with it and the rest of the stuff you get with the package and it's one more thing keeping the resale up on your truck.
