This is a very fair price, I've been looking for 2 weeks now (so not a long time) but to find one at or near MSRP is not out there. In my search across the country I have made over 50 contacts and some of the prices over MSRP are crazy ($9000-$25,000 over) these are all numbers that I've been quoted. The west coast is the worst and the middle of the country seems to be on the lower end of the over number $5000 is the best you will find til John made this thread. This is just my experience, I'm sure there's a lot of people out there with better shopping skills then I.

    Randy,

Thank you for reaching out to me over the weekend. I get that dealers(yes I am one) are very excited and asking prices that people are not interested in. I wanted us to be fair and I also wanted to gain more customers with these vehicles. I look forward to updating you Randy on your order out. This allocation was already handed to us and will be built shortly. I just found out today that I actually have another allocation coming and will be creating another thread as well as soon as that allocation is handed out. The last thing I wanted to do was give someone false hope with such an exciting purchase!

    John

Question... not meant to be rhetorical or sarcastic either..

How do you know or can be reasonably assured that it will be built shortly?

Well, I let Randy know the expected time is about 3 months. We have delivered two so far, both ordered in late October. I also know that this allocation was an immediate order meaning it was expected that we were putting something in. I have actually seen some ordered in Dec schedule to arrive in the next few weeks so I think they are starting to speed up a bit.

Thanks for the feedback! I, along with several others here, ordered in mid October and have yet to receive a VIN. Just trying to figure out the method behind the madness..

We were all told how many we were allocated. Some dealers chose to pre load all of the allocations. We chose to wait until we are told they are ready for our allocation before trying to find a buyer. Do you know what number you were for the dealer you ordered from?

That's what I was wondering Will, In my search I found out that there are dealers (not saying yours) that will take your order and money and they don't have any or they don't know what allocation or they know and are now moving people ahead/ giving others ordered rigs to people willing to pay 10k-25k over and when there's no vin# they can just pass it on to somebody else. I'm not at all saying this is your case, just a heads up.
I was a little late making my decision so a very good friend of mine that owns a Ford dealership in Utah couldn't get me one, but I have heard the games that are being played and it is very sad and it is hard to believe what is going on. It seems that some dealerships think the raptor will be the only rig a person will ever buy. I hope your rig shows up soon.

I thought this was a forum for Raptor owners and enthusiasts...not as an additional way for salespeople to peddle their trucks. Try the traditional way of advertising and let this forum be for us. Salespeople have no incentive to contribute to this forum once they get what they came for, and that's precisely why they have no business here. GO AWAY!

For anyone looking at buying a Raptor from this guy, here's something to keep in mind about the price....

The base cost of this truck has gone up between $1,500 - $3,000 (depending on options) in the last few months. I know because I used the "build and price" tool on ford.com to configure a truck just like the one I ordered last August. Ford and it's dealerships know there's money to be made on this vehicle and they will continue to jack up the price whenever and however possible. Once the data was compiled last September-October which really highlighted the interest from the "build and price" tool, the price started ticking upwards. So when a dealer comes on this forum saying that it's only $1,000 over MSRP, know that they are still making more money on the vehicle now than 2-3 months ago. Maybe that's the real reason why this guy John Studt and his dealership didn't preload any allocations to customers ....because they knew they'd get more money in the long run if they waited to sell them while giving the appearance to you, the customer, of a great deal and a shorter wait time. "We chose to wait until we are told they are ready for our allocation before trying to find a buyer." Of course they made that decision with the interest of the customer in mind, right? WRONG!

So for all of you thinking this guy is being honest and transparent, just know you're only getting half truths.

Here's something else to keep in mind, I'm sure these Raptors are a lot cheaper in Va. or you got yours a lot cheaper. Come to the west coast and try to find one for less than 10K over MSRP. I know John's dealership is still making 5-6k on the truck but at least it wasn't 14-15k as there doing out here. You can't even find one to order at 10k over. I can't even tell you how many dealership have called or email me with trucks available but for those they are wanting 20-25k over. I'm sure it's different in your area. Every area has different demand and income levels to work with. Just because it's one way in one part of the country doesn't mean it's that way every where. I'm not a dealer, I'm a consumer and I purchased the truck he listed on here, so I'm happy he put the offer on here.

I've got to agree with Randy.. If it weren't for John getting up the nerve, probably knowing that he would get beat up a little, to post his allocation on here. Randy, an enthusiast and now future Raptor owner, might still be still be waiting just to find one or worse yet, might have given up all together on the dream because of the greed displayed by dealers in his region.

Besides, no one says a word about the supporting vendors pedaling their stuff on here. How come they aren't getting told to go get bent and to try some good ole fashioned advertising? Do you think for one second that they really 100% have your interest in mind? That they too are not in it for profitability? Sure, not by thousands of dollars but the markup is still there. All of that aside. Without the dealers, there would be no trucks regardless of what they are asking. I say, let them throw their hook out along with everyone else. Because at the end of the day. It is up to you. It is your choice as a consumer whether or not you take the bait.

I'm no dealer either.. just playing devils advocate... no pun intended..

If you want I can give you a dealer's number here in the Springs. As of last night they had 7 Raptors in the lot. Most are SCREW.

I appreciate that! I can't say that it could hurt to see what they have and what they are willing to negotiate!
