Congrats dude that's an awesome story. I'm finally done with my month of bull$€*t and getting my truck Monday too! Survived Iraq and Bragg and now I'm ready for a week off with the new wheels.
So, a few things I've added to the truck: 1. Stubby antenna. Simple, but it's worth it. I hated my antenna banging around in parking garages. Reception is fine, but I don't really listen to terrestrial radio anyway. Usually from my phone or Sirius XM. 2. Spray in bediner, interior leather/exterior paint protection, and undercoating. Had this done at the dealership because they offered it all in one package at 1/3 the usual price (probably because they thought they'd get the mark-up but they didn't). 3. Tonneau Cover. I went with the Roll N Lock A-Series retractable cover. I know retractable covers aren't appealing to all because of the already limited box space, but the canister doesn't take up much room. It's aluminum, I can open the tailgate with it closed, its low profile, and it's very theft resistant. Looks really good on the truck. The only things I'm still wanting to get is a bed extender (thinking about the Ford one), and a cold air intake (waiting for the Roush one to be released). That's the immediate list anyway....lights, wheels, and maybe leveling further down the road.
Don I've had 2 bed extenders from Ford(Reg. cab and Sport Trac). They work well but the curved shape seems to eliminate a lot of space on the sides. I know I can't get a set of golf clubs to fit sideways. I'm thinking of the AMP Research Bed X-Tender HD Max if my truck ever gets made. They seem to be more of a square design and I think they'll offer more area. I've never had them - just based on my observation. Real Truck has them advertised
