Power is very good - sport mode is quick and responsive and the shifts are quick and gears are held longer.. Weather mode the transmission is very laggy - i guessing on purpose.. Since i live 3 miles up an unpaved road that is snow covered most of the winter I have been using weather mode a lot.. I find that the transmission doesnt allow me to go bombing up my road in the snow so i have taken to using the manual shift in weather mode. best of both worlds - i control the shifts but i still get all wheel drive. The few times i got on it (not STOMPED but just on it) the transmission was pretty quick to react and the power was a surprise - the 5700 lbs truck leaps forward - its pretty impressive. I know for me personally the power is more than enough. its the transmission that will take some getting used to. Like i said if u like using the manual mode you will have a blast. sorry im not much of a "writer" - i hope that helps.. keep the questions coming and again - i hope you gents get your trucks soon..
Thanks VT. Mine should be here in the next week to 10 days and at a elevation of 8200 ft I'll get plenty of snow time. Will be sad to see my 2010 gen 1 go it's been a awesome truck !!
VT, put your truck in sport mode but turn your 4X switch to 4 auto. I think that will give you what you want. I haven't used the weather Baja etc modes yet. But 4 auto was phenomenal in 9 inches of snow. Let me know what you think.
finally had time to detail the beast.. had to wait 24 to 48 hours after the Xpel was installed.. obviously i cant Comment on other colors but if you have or ordered Avalanche Grey - KEEP READING.. So i was a little worried about paint quality. I know that seems odd but im a detailing nut and good paint makes me happy. I have a 2013 Ford Edge Sport in tuxedo black. I would say the paint is decent but not good and certainly not great. My initial impressions as well as those of my friend who did the install of the XPEL film is that the paint quality is very good.. Looks very good after wash and looks "wet" and deep after a good coat of polish. only time will tell the durability but fingers crossed.. and I LOVE THE COLOR. ordered site unseen (like most of us) and was a little nervous. Nothing to worry about - awesome color - thanks Ford Performance
I'm jealous. My garage isn't big enough to detail it and the weather is too cold to do it outside. Hate diving it this winter without a good coat of wax on her.
i need some front mud flaps BAD.. those front wheels just coat the side of the truck AND THE DRIVER SIE DOOR HANDLE (which is one of the few things not covered in XPEL) already has a paint chip on it..
I love the dirt and grit that gets on the inside of the door handle. Might need to invest in wet wipes so I can clean the hand before I touch the steering wheel.
I had suntek film applied on all front paint areas including headlights, back of side mirrors and handle areas for all for 4 doors Guy came to my house and installed in my garage for $450 Thanks for the suggestion of getting that done
I looked at husky mud flaps when I put my fuel wheels on. Wheels put the tires out a extra 1" or so than stock. Couldn't do the mudflats tho. I did get my door handles done when I got the hood and mirrors clear bra
so i bought a set of Gatorback Ford logo front flaps 12 x 23.. https://www.realtruck.com/truck-hardware-gatorback-mud-flaps/ guys from realtruck said they should fit the Raptor. Im pretty sure it wont be "plug and play" but ill let you know how it goes and post some pics once i get them. going to be 5 to 7 business days - I guess gatorback makes them to order.. He said you use the 2 fasteners already holding down the fender flare plus probably need at least one more fastener to secure - they are pretty heavy/beefy. then i need to get my handles covered AFTER i touch up the rock chip on the driver side door handle. Picked up the touch up paint today from Ford - 20 bucks.. Ill post up some touch up before and afters !! hopefully i dont fuk it up.
i put a little towel right inside in the door compartment for that exact reason. Wipe my and off before i grab the steering wheel - OK i know a little OCD but i gotta be me!! Im 3 miles up an unpaved road and the handles get covered!!
