Plus $800 if you really want to use them in a "Bead-lock" mode ($200 per tire for the functional Bead-lock Rings). The Rings that come with the $1,165 Bead-lock option rims are merely "Beauty Rings" and cannot be used to truly bead-lock the tires.

You have to buy the additional rings from Ford Performance to make them lock the beads.

The problem I am finding is if you have the rings installed you are not legal to run on the street. Off road use only. I was talking to my local tire guy and said he can install the rings but can't put them on the truck, it's illegal in Oregon. He said get got fined.. You would be money ahead to take the stock rims, save the $ 1165 and another $ 500 for the Ford rigs and buy rims. There are rims that look like bead lock and work really well with low air pressure. Of course if you wanted to rock crawl you might need really bead locks. But really...how many of use are going to take a $ 65000 truck and rock crawl.

It looks like the labor to install true bead locks wouldn't be cheap either. Looks time consuming to properly install and torque lock rings. Anyone know what it costs to have them installed and balanced?

For some of us who use the trucks to there full capabilities beadlocks are not for rock crawling. They are for better traction in loose terrain such as sand and also a smother ride over rough rocky roads.

If you want to run deadlocks on public roads. go right ahead there are plenty of wheels out there that look like Beadlocks but are just simulated. I guess my point being is that there is so many "lookalike" wheels out there now that a cop or DOT would never know the difference!

Trust me I run them all year round on my DD and yes they are worth the money if you go off-road.... If you don't, go ahead and get yourself some 22" rockstars and get off this forum lol.

I agree and disagree respectively so, bead locks are not necessarily needed for sand unless your doing very high speed running , I air down to 8 to 10 pounds on my early Bronco and for 30 some years and have never had a problem, it might be however that its only a 3000# truck, so keeping that in mine as the vehicle weight goes up w/ increased speeds bead locks are a good idea. However also if your rock crawling or any other extreme off road and airing down bead locks will be that extra insurance needed for a hassle free day.
