i personally think the raptor is as ugly as a reaper. i have never liked them but when a consultant in the oilfield showed me how they handle the non existent work roads in NM and TX i was sold. i have since determined they are cheaper to run and maintain than any chevy, ford, gm, dodge, or toyota. their maintenance when pulling 10,000 lb loads down rough rocky oilfield roads at 70mph with no issues for years on end is nothing short of a miracle. for this reason i purchased several for my employees. however i loved the ride and off road abilities so much i purchased one for myself. i quickly sent it to the shop for mods, wrap, wider fenders, 800hp engine mods, supercharger, sound system etc. the truck looked amazing but every ADD add on was so tight that over time they rub the body. the tailgate hits the bunper when u drop it, and the rear bumper reverse sensors never worked. i tried mods on over 6 different vehicles with add and all were a horrible failure. sure the truck looks amazing but the functionality was non existent so from that point forward i quit putting any after market parts on my raptors. well now im scheduled to get my new raptor on december 15 and i like the looks of ADD again but im very lery of their products. does anyone know anything about the new raptor bumpers and whether or not they are going to be rubbing the heck out of the bodies as the trucks are put to the test?? heres a pic of my last personal raptor. it looks great but i wouldnt have done this if i had know all the rubbing and paint chipping the bumpers were going to do.
Have you Have you reached out to the guys at ADD about the issue you're having? I personally went out to their shop to scout out the build and quality while i was in AZ. Nate was accommodating and took me on the short tour of the place. They struck me as a place to make things right and not leave you holding yourself once they cash your check. Besides, if you don't speak up to them then you become part of the problem and shouldn't complain too much if you're not going to follow up with them. Additionally, if they're not getting feedback on long term build issues then they can't fix the problem. Sorry to hear the problem you're having but good for the rest of us to know. Please update your outcome.....
If you want a winch that bumper swap is going to run you about 5 g's, bumper 2,500 , air cooler relocation kit 1,500, basic winch 1,100, and don't forget lights maybe another 500 bucks. Ouch.
i never did reach out to them. im used to sales being final and nonservice after the fact. i had all my parts professionally installed. however i had to drop the bumpers and shim then and even then the tailgate still hit the bumper when lowered. my stealth front bumper was the same. it rubbed on both the after market and custom front fenders. it was just too tight of a fight and i feel like it wasnt built to be perfect. i feel their product is built to be "close enoogh"
Hello Tony, You are right, too tight can be a bad thing for sure. nobody likes paint chipping and fitment issues. I would try and look at the high rez images of there test truck and see what there new gaps are like. Everything they are building now seems to be CAD drawn and of the highest quality I know for desert style offered bumpers. On the other hand there is lots of desert shops in the south and custom designs are always available at a price. One of my favourite designs is the clean front valance look with a bumper tucked behind it, so I had it built at a shop in Lake Havasu City for 1000 welded to the truck not bolted. ADD has been in the industry for a long time now but the obvious downfall of a rapidly growing business is pushing more product out the door, not saying the product is bad, if I had the money I would run all of there new equipment on my 17'... sometimes production issues come up when you are dealing with cost.
I went out to snap a few pics of our 17 SEMA raptor. This is the Honey Badger bumper with the AR500 bulletproof plating which was a 1 time deal for SEMA, so the bumper fits slightly tighter than normal. As mentioned above, all of our bumpers now are designed in solid works & all the parts are laser cut. Our products have greatly improved over the years as we have grown & are now able to offer higher quality products. Our 2017 Raptor bumpers are top of the line, cleanest, & the best fitting line we have right now. Front bumper: Rear bumper:
I have one of your stealth front bumpers in my garage waiting for my truck to get delivered. looks be well built. Guess I could have our AWS welding instructor from work inspect the welds. Appears to be a quality product. Cant attest to the fitment considering I don't have my truck yet
has add dropped the tailgate on those bumpers to make sure the tailgate doesnt hit the rear bumper? i also like that snake skin looking wrap. can u guys give me a lead on who to call to get one for mine? i think im going to hold off on any mods until i can see some bumpers in person. that sema bumper above is definitely tight and i can already see where its going to eventually crack the parts of the body its hitting. i will admit those bumpers look amazing. im just hoping add has them fitting right this time.
ADD can u post a side pic of the raptor with the fuel rotor rims? i want to see what the entire package looks like with both bumpers. the back shot looks good and so does the front. but what does the whole package from the side look like. its time for me to decide what im throwing on my truck. thx in advance
I dont have a side shot of the truck with Rotors on it, but here are a few other setups. Stealth front & rear bumper: Stealth front & venom rear: Venom front, stealth rear: Bad picture but you get the idea, Honey Badger:
