I do think that Ford is likely building up their manufactured inventory prior to shipping them to save on transportation costs. You don't just ship one truck to a dealership, you send anywhere from 5-10. If they only did one at a time, it would take them forever to meet demand. Also, the truck has been in preproduction for two years after debuting at the Detroit auto show in 2015. Pretty sure that Ford knows how wide it is and the ways to ship it by now....

Hey all, just pour yourself another drink and relax. No point in getting worked up for your early Christmas present. Just like the rest of you i'm choppin at the bit to get my truck and the slow flow of good info is maddening. Can't control the info flow but i can control the reaction.

The truck gets here when it gets here! Period!!!!!

Because everyone has run out of patience at this point, there's no official Launch or Release date which is slightly odd when you think about all of the energy around this truck and how hot the market is for it right now. There's lot's of rumors flying but they're just that "rumors". My best "guess" would be timing to sync with the Baja 1000 start or finish. Seems to make marketing since now wouldn't it. However that's just a educated guess!

I'm calling BS on some of the stuff i'm reading between this and the Gen 1 site. No one has actually seen one at a dealer yet or the boards would have truly lit up with posts, someone would have driven one and had something to say but the truth is, there's not one out there yet. Oh and the guy that requested his deposit back because he didn't like the exhaust sound. Lol, nobody can be that dumb to pass up the investment opportunity do be able to buy of of these trucks early and miss the profit that can be made on a resale in this market on this truck right now. I call BS that. Yes, it's not going to have the growl the Gen 1 did, it's more refined then the Gen 1. It's ok if you don't like the sound of the new truck over the Gen 1. However i doubt that was the real reason you backed out!

As far as going to the plant to pick one up, yes this is a missed opportunity for Ford! Great way to show off your product, charge for the special delivery and even put together a off road course to show/teach new owners. Yes, GM does it with the Vette, I know you can do this with Audi & BMW too so it's not a new concept. Already though of it too, wouldn't that be a fun road trip to break the beast in?!?!?!?!?

Additionally in this day and age Ford missed another marketing opportunity. Think Global and not just Baja. Take the trunk around the world with some average guys and not professionals. What can this truck really do and where can it really take you? I'd be the first to sign up for that opportunity.

Ok, i'm done with tonight's rant. Hey, what else i'm i suppose to do when there's not much new online for the new Raptor?!

I've read here that many are getting great service out of the multimedia channels with Ford. Has anyone asked about a factory delivery option????

I just sent an email to Ford, we'll see the response i get and will repost it back here...

I talked to my dealer yesterday, 13 Nov 2016. My Raptor status is "in production" and has a "TBD" delivery date, she said that when she talked to Ford directly, was told that my Raptor that was scheduled to be built on 07 Nov, will "likely" deliver sometime during the first 2 weeks of January.

I saw a tv special once about why it was illegal to buy vehicles directly from the factory. I forget the reason but apparently it isn't allowed.

Why You Can't Buy a Car Direct From the Factory
How great would it be if you could just visit a manufacturer's web site, configure your vehicle exactly as you want, and purchase it with complete price transparency without having to go through a dealership?
Most car buyers would prefer it this way, but it's actually illegal to do so.

With so much shopping being done online, many people wonder why you can't just buy a car directly from the factory - it would make the car shopping process so much easier.

It all goes back to the days of Henry Ford when mass vehicle production first began. Back then, it made sense to sell cars through a network of independent dealers.

By doing so, Ford created a buffer to cushion fluctuations in sales. Ford's customers were actually the dealers, who would need to purchase and store up to 60 days worth of vehicle inventory. Since there were no options on vehicles back then, there was no need for special orders and the franchise system made sense.

Over the years, the dealers became more powerful and formed strong lobbying groups to ensure States made it illegal for consumers to purchase vehicles without dealer involvement. So although you may see services such as CarsDirect that claim you can buy vehicles online, dealers always remain involved.

And it doesn't look like this will change anytime soon. If anything, the franchise laws have gotten even stricter, thanks to the political clout that dealers have in most States.

    Great Info!!!

How then does GM do it then with the Corvette? It seems that the deal still goes through the dealer but the pickup of the new vehicle is at the plant. Corvette has been doing this for years. Same with some of the imports, work with your local dealer and then pickup at the plant.

Hell, who knows. Just get me my damn new Raptor!

There's a suit going on right now with Tesla wanting to sell their cars direct, no dealers, can't do that in Michigan.
