New here and looking for info. This truck is driven. Here is the story. 6000 miles. Loss of power. On way to dealer NO oil pressure and check engine light on way to Dealer says over 2 qts low. Oil consumption test 1500 miles #1. Failed. Oil consumption test 1500 miles #2. Failed. New valve covers installed. Oil consumption test 3000 miles. 2 qts low. Ford dealer claims per FORD within specs. Oil consumption test 3000 miles #4. Failed. Onto test #5. Truck has 15000 miles Ford said it would go away at 10000 miles. Failed.

as of today truck is back at dealer. New problems. A biblical shift happened today. Rattled the whole truck at 70 mph on freeway. Broke rear tires loose and stability control came on. For the next 30 minutes truck was operating but in a total daze.

I started a complaint with Ford at 6000 miles because I saw the writing on the wall. They started out really good. Now that things are serious, no one is home. I have left 5 messages with MY agent with no return calls.

Been told they will have a reprogram to fix oil consumption problem. I think I will be calling BS on that.

looking for feedback. Am I the only one?

Sorry to say but this is NOT how to keep a customer.

You are not the only one. The valve covers were supposed to fix it. In your case, the engine is definitely hurt from what happened. Make a buyback claim and run away from the ecoboost.

Same here: I have a 2019 Raptor and in less than 3000 miles it ran low on oil (I had to add almost 2.5-3qt to get it back to full). Making the long story short I went to my dealer and, according with TSB 19-2232, they changed the oil and they told me to keep an eye on consumption. Not even 1000 miles later it wasted another qt of oil so the dealer replaced the valve covers and some hoses all according with the TSB... After this, 1000 miles later my Raptor is again 1qt down so replacing the valve covers did nothing but waste my time - the oil consumption is the same as before. According with the Ford TSB the normal oil consumption would be 1qt in no less than 3000 miles for the regular 3.5L econoboost engine (but Ford Raptor is not listed in that TSB). I called the dealer again and they were trying to tell me that 1qt/1000 miles is normal for a Raptor - this makes no sense! Why would they replace the valve covers in the first place if they thought that the consumption is normal? I'm planning to drop the car to the dealer again but with all this pandemic going on I have no idea when I will be able to do it. I was also hoping that the oil usage will slow down (as in the user manual it says that the Raptor may use more oil in the first 3000 miles).

Same problem here. My 2019 dropped to idle on the highway at 2000 miles, took 2 quarts to reach the dipstick. Failed all the oil loss tests. Eventually started smoking after long idles from the right tailpipe. They stopped doing oil loss tests at that point and changed the valve covers.

Now at over 20K miles. Sometimes it loses a quart at about 1500 miles, sometimes 800 miles, but it always loses oil. Ford tells me 1000 miles is normal and can be as low as 500.

If you look at the Raptor supplement in the manual it even says 500 miles. So I check my oil ever Sunday.

Good catch with the Raptor supplement! For some reason I missed it before but (now that you mentioned it) I looked again and I was able to find the info. So... (according to Ford) for a 2019 Raptor to use 1qt of oil in as low as 500 miles is normal if you drive your Raptor hard. I did not think that I was driving my Raptor hard but apparently I do. For the all other gen 2 Raptor owners that are stating that their Raptors are not losing any oil in 5k miles, please start driving your Raptors as they are supposed to be driven - hard! :893karatesmiley-thuI guess I should start looking for some good deals on 5w-30.

This amount of oil loss is unacceptable. Never had that issue on the Gen 1, or other performance vehicles for that matter.
If it were me, I would unload this truck asap and get something else. You don't want an oil burner!

Yes I read that supplement also, but if you go back to a 2017-2018 owners manual there is nothing in it about this kind of oil consumption. The supplement was written to correct the problem. CYA!
Just because Ford keeps claiming it’s within spec and normal doesn’t mean it is. They are the ones making up the specs after the outcome.
Besides how can some trucks have no problem with oil consumption and others go through it. That appears to be on the 2 ends of the spectrum. Sorry, but one is right and one is wrong.

Even though mine loses oil there's no visible indication of where it's going. No leaks. The valve cover TSB was to replace the internal PCV. The symptoms that mine showed were oil loss and smoking after a long idle - anything over 15 minutes and the right tailpipe would blow a cloud of blue smoke that would last for miles after I started driving. Once I took a video of that they changed the valve covers and it hasn't done THAT since.

The dealership doesn't seem to care about oil loss beyond a quart every 1000 miles. I didn't know the 500-mile thing was new for 2019 but it definitely is there now. The "Scheduled Maintenance" section of the supplement states to check the oil every time you refuel.

At first I thought my 2019 Raptor is a lemon! After reading the Ford supplement "Scheduled Maintenance" section I believe I've got an orange that taste like a lemon!

    UPDATE!!
The truck is at the dealer as I post this! Ford has released a reflash of the computer that I have been told will fix the problem. This should only take a few hours.
Didn’t happen. Problem with reflash keeping the truck until they contact Ford about the problem.

Dealer just called. Internal engine noise. Tearing into the engine.

    The last straw just arrived!!

10 days later.......engine is still apart, transmission and transfer case are out of the truck. The flex plate is severely cracked. I’m sure a result of the biblical shift. Ford rep is reapplying for the 4th buy back attempt. Claiming it doesn’t meet criteria.

Good thing you only pay full sticker price for these, otherwise I would be upset!

Definitely get the buyback / lemon thing going. Don't buy another ecoboost Raptor.
