Just back from snowy Vermont and tailgate on my truck froze shut. Warm water to open the tailgate, no luck. The tailgate opened somewhere on my drive up to resort...one lost snowboard.
Taking it into the dealership next week for the technician to diagnose it. Any easy repairs/fixes I can make myself to the locks or tailgate?

There's been a recall to fix those issues if they happen. Contact your dealership and tell them this:

    FIELD SERVICE ACTION
    DOOR LATCH FREEZING CONCERNS
    Field Service Action Number:18N03 VIN:1FTFW1RG5JFB29543

Thanks, truck is scheduled to go in to address this next week. I have had that field Service Action outstanding for months and my dealership said they didn't know what to do... Let's hope they do now.

There is a new recall for unintended tail gate opening from March 9, 2020. All F150's from 2015 to 2019 including raptors, recall 20S01.

Door latch freezing concerns recall 18N03 or the enhancements 19N02, or 19N06 does not have any service action on the tailgate latch.

20S01 will re-route the tail gate release wiring from the original connector through a new connector and replace the tail gate release switch.

Dealership is telling me the fix for the tailgate is essentially duct tape to stop water getting into the mechanism.
