do your Raptor brakes suck?

Forgive me if this topic has been covered before, but i think mine do. I have a 2018 with 18k miles and for the last 10k the brakes seem mushy or almost undersized. It feels like maybe having the brake lines bled might cure it or maybe I need a brake job already? I will have them checked out this weekend.

They arent the top notch brakes but try SS lines 1st and see if that helps with the grab of the braking, way better than the rubber lines. If not R1 concepts is the brand most seem to go with. Slotted and drilled rotors, Freedom Motorsports. Chris Kelley

I heard good things when you remove the rubber lines and put on some pads with more bite.

Call it the cheap Brembo upgrade lol

i strongly recommend Raybestos slotted rotors and Ceramic pads. The stoptech product is junk in my experience

UPDATE: I took her in to the dealer for some warranty work (battery) and told them about the brakes. When I got it back the brakes worked better. It turns out that the brake boost setting was on low and the mechanic re-set them to max. I don't know if this is something I could have done myself or if a Forscan device would have been required, but I am happier now.

Do you have a ‘19? I got a TSB regarding a battery terminal.

Curious about that brake booster setting you had adjusted. We’re your brakes hard? Easier to engage now? Or effectively have you better braking with less effort?

Mine is an '18 bought in December 2018. The battery went dead after 16k miles on it so they replaced it N/C. My pedal felt quite mushy compared to my '09 F-250 SD. It felt like there was air in the lines, just not a positive or confident feeling pedal. It had too much throw or movement before really engaging. I had a feeling it was a computer thing because whenever I touched the pedal after the early collision warning sensor would sound off, the pedal would then feel good and primed. Now it is quite a bit better as in less effort, less mush. On another note, I think the dealer may have done a software update even though the rep said I was current. I used to have an issue where my truck would turn up the volume on my iPhone X to full every time I paired with it and leave it that way after I would exit the truck. If I forgot to re-set the volume before going to bed, my alarm would wake us up at full blast and startle the crap out of us!!! Anyway that is no longer a problem since that trip to the dealer. Either they updated it or Apple did at about the same time.

I did a complete BBK upgrade to my 2018. Very happy.
I was an early adopter of Racing Brake (RB) on the Gen2 Raptor. Warren at RB worked with me through the entire process and made EVERYTHING right. Outstanding customer service and dedication to perfection... could not have asked for more. The F 400mm +R 390mm BBK (caliper and rotors) is HUGE and looks amazing on my Raptor even with 20" Vorsteiner wheels and 35s. I selected this kit as it simply offered a very unique value proposition not available elsewhere. IMO RB was a much better option than Alcon or Baer (very heavy kits with lesser capabilities and rotor size options), a better price/performance option than Wilwood, MUCH better quality than some other heavily advertised and comparably priced brands, and a bargain compared to Brembo (that I would have stressed out over taking off-road). IMHO RB provides a comparable if not better build quality than most of the big-name brand BBK manufactures and is a clear price/performance leader for the Raptor. RB uniquely combines a VERY SMART and bulletproof design from caliper construction/finish, floating hats/roators, and the unique drilled/slotted rotor design along with exceptional performance and durability. I have run these brakes now for 40k miles... NO ISSUES and 110% satisfied. Some initial squeal under light braking (has now subsided), no rust, a bit more brake dust vs. stock but expected given more aggressive pads (but not bad), but most of all noticeable and GREATLY improved stopping power with shorter stops (have not officially measured but clearly noticeable) along with NO FADE whatsoever under hard braking or towing my 6,500 lb boat. I also replaced all 6 Raptor brake lines with SS, and went with a high temp racing fluid. The overall result was a much firmer and higher pedal. For my largely street driving (with tune) along with occasional off-road use this was perfect and greatly preferred over the soft (spongey) and deep stock pedal feel/set up. I could not be happier with my purchase, RB's support, and now proven long-term performance of RB and this product. 100% worth the investment!!!
