    Hey folks,

I'm about to trade in my '14 GT for a Raptor. The raptor will be the first truck I've ever owned having driven nothing but late model mustangs for 25 or so years, but home depot and Ikea runs and Mustangs don't really mix. So time for a truck and as a bonus I'll get to explore some off road parks in my immediate area.

    Questions:

    1) Is there a reason to prefer the CrewCab over the SuperCab, I don't think I really need the extra interior space. But it seems that 99% of Raptors are CrewCab. Is this just a function of people just loading up their raptors because it's a high end truck and might as well?

    2) Moonroof, seems like a bad idea on a truck that's meant to tear up off road trails and I've seen some horror stories about it. Yet, I think it would be a nice feature. Any comments?

    3) Finally, for anyone who's driven both, how does the active suspension in the '19 compare to the '18 or '17? Which do you prefer?

    Thanks!

I'll comment on your first Question. I bought a SCAB mainly because it is 12 inches shorter than the SCREW so it fits in my garage. It maneuvers easier in the forested areas where I hunt and doesn't stick out so far in the parking lot. I RARELY use my back seat for passengers, but the suicide doors do present a slight inconvenience when loading those passengers. There are no grab bars at the rear seat area so you step up near the front and work your way to the rear seat on the running board. The front seat passenger must remove his seat belt before opening that second row door. It gets a little crowded in a parking lot when passengers are sandwiched in between the two opened doors. Again the main reason for the SCAB purchase was it fit in my garage. That was important to me for the weather conditions we have in PA and security.

I bought my 17 new and moved up to the SCREW. Although I rarely have passengers, its great when I do. Moreover, you get quite a bit more indoor storage which is important on trips where security and weatherproofing is a factor. Last but not least, resell will be better and have a larger customer base. True it is longer so measure your garage carefully if this is a concern.

You are coming out of Mustang. I went to Raptor Assault after my purchase and bought the extra day in the Mustang GTs. Had such a hoot that I subsequently found a garage queen GT500 with very low miles to play with. Nothing like the whine of the blower. Shes still a garage queen but I have 2 of the funnest rides one can have in 2 different platforms. Good luck w/your Raptor, not like any other truck.

Thanks guys, all I've seen in person was the SCREW so I suppose I should look at a SCAB before I submit the order.

Alanc, that sort of mirrors the evolution of my thinking, was going to keep the GT and get a beater truck, then I thought, why not get a Raptor to DD and a GT500 or classic mustang to play with.

I recently traded in my 2008 Mustang GT/CS for the 2019 SCREW. I went with the larger due to needing the interior space not only for people but also for the added space to carry work items so that I won't have to go to the bed of the truck all the time. The dealership I went to did have both on the lot, but I couldn't really tell you much about the difference as I knew what I wanted when I arrived.

Best of luck with your decision.

Get the screw... Only way you can get the desperately needed 36 gallon tank.
