I'm guessing I should take my pedal commander out before I take it in to the dealer. Question is how long after reflash should I wait to put it back in? Heard that the truck needs to learn your driving habits all over again. Just like when new

They applied the update to mine and it didn't help. If it does not work, you should stay on it. They just granted me a buy back and I'm convinced the transmission was the major contribution. It was a 2017, 37k miles and in sport mode, the shift from 1-2 was so hard, it started overflowing fluid and overheating.

Note, I got the same response from dealership first time. They said the update was F150 not considering that these are the same transmission.

Also note that the transmission is programmed to run different cold. This was part of my issue. I had complaints when hot and they would test drive cold and not find anything.

Good luck. BTW, did a new purchase on a 2019, and transmission runs great.

good to hear, my shifts were never that hard, I think you may have had more than transmission issues, mine still holding strong.

Does anyone else have an issue where the transmission will not down shift after coming to a stop? Occasionally mine will want to start from a complete stop in 4th gear. I have even seen it stay in 4th after shifting to Reverse and then back to Drive. My truck is a 2017 with 20K miles on it and it has had this problem on occasion since day 1. I even took it to the dealer last year and they did a "software reset" on it, but it still happens from time to time.

Feel free to PM me your VINs... I work at a Ford dealership and have access to recalls specific to the VIN.

I have the issue but my build date is after the 15 May TSB so the dealer just cleared the learned tables and sent me on my way. It's still slamming into gear in sport mode. Not sure how many miles it needs to learn. Will be going back it it doesn't improve.

From what I've heard others say and experienced sport mode is always a hard shift.

Old thread but I have an update to mine. Last week I was driving at a high rate of speed (over 100 but less than 108) and the truck clunked/jerked and went into limp mode. Few seconds later I get power back and started to accelerate. So now I'm looking at the gauges which are all normal when it does it a second time. At that time I see the RPMs bounce thru redline 2 to 3 times to limp mode. Again I get power back and stay about 80 mph when it does it again. From there I drive about 70 another 2 miles or so to a parking area in BFE. On that drive it never leaves 9th great until I dtop to about 20mph. I park and I smell what I think is burning transmission fluid. Go to my tour, come out to check it the truck before I see if I can drive back to town and I see transmission fluid on the ground. Takes 2 days to get it towed to my dealer of choice by roadside assistance. Dealer takes 1/2 a day to tell me the transmission is falling apart and may need to be totally replaced. They also tell me that it'll be there longer than ever before.

So, not happy about it being there long. Not happy about it failing me out in the middle of no where. But I'm hoping this will fix my transmission problems I have had almost since I bought it.

Still nothing that I really want other than a new one. And that makes no sense with no real upgrades since 17, plus I love the avalanche gray. So I'm hoping this fixed the issues that has been an off and on problem since I got it.

agree with the new ones not having any real changes other than some bells and whistles that don't do enough for me to make the jump either. Hope you get the tranny deal worked out, I guess I've been lucky as I've had no real major issues with mine other than the back up camera taking a crap early on.
