My buddy (2014 Raptor) and I went for some light mudding at an offroad park. His Raptor slipped into a hole up to the right headlight and had to be pulled out. Immediately after, it wouldn't shift (out of 4-Hi, 4-Lo, etc.) and it made a loud clicking/plastic grinding noise when he attempted to get into Park. During this time, it could not move under its own power. After we pulled it out and let it dry out a bit, it could be driven (in 4Hi). Later, it shifted into 2Hi and seems to be okay. But obvious concerns about binding or some type of electrical gremlin now. Anyone have ideas or previous experience?

Update: it was the transfer case motor that intermittently failed...

Sounds right. Get that electrical connector to the shift motor cleaned and sealed up with dielectric grease
