on the topic of pcm and tunes...

I've noticed that sct/livernois/etc separates 11-14 and 15+ f150 tunes (explorer tunes look to be same across 13-16). I know the 17Rap will be an all new EB as they claim, but hoping the 15+ pcm tables are this new platform that ppl have discussed and base it off. Tuners will have had their time in there the past year+, and while it will be a different, power/new trans/etc its not an entirely new structure. That said this could very well be vendors effort to market a new handheld etc... (tho livernois uses their same proprietary handheld across all their platforms, so dont see that the case for them)

Since this is a waiting game, it doesn't make much sense to discuss this much, guess i'm just trying to sell myself on buying right away :pp:

Do we know at all if the 15+ ecoboost guys are able to use older x3/3015/sfm handhelds, or does the x4 have more functionality beyond color screen and wifi?

Plus add in the new transmission and all that torque available down low I bet the Gen2 could easily keep pace with a supercharged Gen1. Please Ford make it over 500.

Keep in mind, not every supercharged gen 1 is the same. After additional mods (headers, pulley, tune, meth), I was hitting 707 hp and 730 tq. You'd have to do quite a few mods on the gen 2 to keep up with that.

True, but your comparing a stock truck to maybe another 5k in engine mods (just a guess) beyond the SC kit (I would guess you have 10-15k in a SC build like that). The point is that Ford claims in stock form the EB will keep pace with a built Roush engine, that's impressive.

There will be plenty of room to grow the stock motor from there. I cant wait to see where the aftermarket takes this truck.

You guys need to put it in frame of reference for what the comparison was. He didn't say it'd beat any roush raptor out there regardless of mods. It's in reference to a "factory" Roush Raptor (which yes is done after the factory, but the intent is an off the showroom floor, roush package....not one that an owner has done a roush kit, plus full exhaust, plus custom tuning, etc. etc. etc.

There are 2 roush kits for the 6.2, a 525 hp kit and a 590 hp kit. More than likely, the quote was in reference to the stage 1 525 hp kit. I could easily see how a gen 2 with 450 hp could be quicker than a roush stage 1 truck with 525 hp. At 500 lbs lighter, weight alone is a significant factor in performance. Every 100 lbs in the 1/4 saves 1/10th of a second, so weight alone, the gen 2 raptor will be 1/2 second faster than a gen 1 with the same power. Couple that with a 10 speed transmission for keeping things more in the ideal power/acceleration band, the 500 lb weight savings and 4 extra gears could easily offset the additional 75 hp that a roush raptor would have. It may not CRUSH it, but it could easily keep up and be faster.

Fully modded aftermarket gen 1's vs. bone stock gen 2's....apples to oranges.

Bone stock gen 1 w/ roush stage 1 kit only, vs bone stock gen 2....that's the comparison they're making.
