Is anyone else having any issues with rust coming through your body paint? Found a couple spots on the tailgate and doors when I was washing the truck the other day and thought that was really odd only having the truck for 4 months. Is this something Ford will fix?
So aluminium doesn't rust. I know not everything on the web is true, but here is couple of articles for you. Popular mechanics one is very informative. https://www.google.com/amp/www.popu...rture-tested-its-new-aluminum-f-150-16682803/ http://www.tfltruck.com/2015/01/sho...5-ford-f-150-aluminum-corrosion-ask-tfltruck/
It sounds like rail dust. Clay bar will take it out and then a good wax. If you you tube rail dust there are some good ways on there to show how to remove it. Do you have any photos of what you are seeing?
It's been rainy and shitty here in KY the past two days so almost as soon as I washed it, it was covered in crap again. It's supposed to be nice tomorrow so I'll spray her down and get some pics uploaded.
That's what I'm thinking. I'm going to upload some pics tomorrow when I can get a decent wash done and then lemme know what you think, thanks.
This stuff is amazing https://www.amazon.com/Carpro-Iron-...ie=UTF8&qid=1516832397&sr=1-5&keywords=iron+x
I saw there is a lemon scented version now. It’s really fun to watch it find the hidden specs of iron and make them “bleed “
Aluminum doesn’t rust, does your neighbor have a B.B. gun? This would have to be transfer of carbon steel to that surface of the aluminum. Does it appear to be below the clear coat? Or on the surface of the paint? Either way it’s been transferred from CS.
All these are great suggestions. However, taking it to a dealership to insure a record of a possible issue for warranty purposes is my first step. Love the truck color!!
That is on the paint, not under. On normal steel vehicles rust first presents as a bubble under the paint or in an area where the paint was damaged, thru the clear coat, thru the paint and thru the primer. These are basically oxidized metal deposits on the surface. First thing I'd try is a high quality polish / cleaner. Take your pick there are thousands.. I like the KLASSE products, Chemical Guy products and Adams stuff. This is not a problem - I'm sure of it.. Let us know how you make out..
