I gotta ask. Do Any of these air intake actually do anything other than look cool when you open the hood?

    Gdog,
Good question! AFEpower.com claims the following performance enhancements on their website for the Magnum Force Stage 2:
    Torque + 35 ft-lbs
    Horsepower +32 hp
    Airflow 69% improvement over stock

Am I able to quantity or measure the suggested increases? No!
Do I want to believe that it is delivering as advertised? You bet your ass I do!

I do believe that there is substance to the product and if it looks cool, then added bonus!

    Be well, Sir

Guys- just installed the AFE GT air intake system. At higher RPM's i can feel the extra HP and Torque. Only problem is that my check engine light came on. Rapere1, you mentioned you pulled the silencer rings on your Rousch intake and your check engine light coded. when you put them back on did that fix the check engine light? Anything else I should tell my mechanic to look for??
    thanks for all your help.

Did you go with the oiled or dry filter on the Stage 2?

Yup, the silencers also effect the pressure flowing in and there's a sensor down the line that it can trigger. However, it also is dependent on the weather (barometric pressure). I could probably pull them out right now and not have a problem until it gets really warm again. In or out, it doesn't seem to make any noticeable performance difference so i'm fine without getting check engine light on for something simple like this.

Originally I went with the AFE brand as Ford Performance is supposed to be using them as an OEM for this product coming up shortly. I went with the oiled filter on he Momentum GT. Interesting outcome here- I called AFE and they sent me a new turbo vent valve. The new one is plastic, and the one I took out was aluminum. I made the switch and sure enough the check engine light went off. It took driving about 100 miles before the light went off. They said I could also disconnect the battery for 1/2 hour to reset the computer and it would do the same thing. So al is good now. On their website I saw they are coming out with a new programmer, much like Superchips. They claim +80HP, so I placed a pre-order on it. Coupled with the new AFE air intake system it get the HP up to almost 550...

10/4 Rapere1- I followed your advice, called AFE and they sent me a new plastic one to "trick the sensor." So I pulled the metal one out that came with and replaced it with the plastic one they sent me and it worked. THX again- much appreciated!

    Hey guys,
I was reading through this seeing what everyone had to say and their experiences with various intakes. I was looking at the s&b intake since it's got a decent price point and they all pretty much are getting the same results performance wise. I did run across something interesting that I thought I'd pass along. Kind of a buyer beware if you will.
After looking at the s&b in depth I noticed that the so called warranty doesn't apply to race applications and also OFF ROAD USE. And it's at the discretion of the company as to what off road use entails. It's the same for about 90% of the intakes I've looked at where it specifically says this.
Kinda dumb imo since this is an off road truck.
Essentially if you use your truck for what it was built for it will automatically void any warranty that comes along with your aftermarket air intake.

Makes you think twice or 3 x times about what to add. Only 2 I cant bring myself to do is a CAI and a tune. But do as you please with your truck and warranty

The cai doesn't void your truck warranty. Using the cai intake for anything other than daily on road driving apparently voids the warranty for the intake. Dumbest thing I've ever heard. However I reached out to Agency-Power.com and they said that as long as you don't modify their intake or take it out of your truck and physically break it that they will stand behind their product no matter how you drive or use your truck. That's a win win for me and it was only 270.00. Dyno results aree showing 12rwhp and 20lbs fpt.
