not a fan of the exhaust...i don't think i would bother trying to make is sound better...i'd probably go the opposite route and try to tone it down, make it more stealth than anything. no exhaust will make it sound quite right. it's a losing battle with the 3.5L...

I was just thinking the same thing a little while ago. No 'noise' is better IMO.

I totally agree. I love everything about the truck other than the horrible exhaust. I would rather have it quiet with a little turbo sound instead.

it's not even a V8 sounding thing...the exhaust note sounds forced...stealth is probably the way to go with this setup, just listen to the turbos spool...

Is Ford doing active sound design? Ie piping through the sound system.

I dought it has a resonater what are they trying to quiet down kittens. I posted on fpg they should just try and make it as quiet as posable, until they make the V8 TT

The sound of the Gen II Raptor is like the tail lights on the Gen 7 Corvette.

Most everyone hated the tail lights and huge time went into talking about how they were awful and people were photoshopping round tail lights on it and companies were even designing replacement light.

Until the Gen 7 Vette came out. Then the topic was mostly DOA except for the hardcore haterz. No one could help them on the Vette forums and it'll be the same way on the Raptor forums.

The exhaust sound is going to be a moot point once the truck is out and everyone realizes how much better it is than Gen I.

Of course the haterz will still hate the sound but most of them will be Gen I owners or street queen owners who have nothing else but the exhaust system to mod.

Pump the brakes! You may like what you hear now, I don't. I don't like the sound of the current F-150 EB and I hope the production Raptor EB sounds better. I am hoping that ether in stock form or aftermarket it will sound more GTR ish.

Like I said, for me it's not a V8 sound thing, the exhaust note sounds forced. Not 100% sure if the sound is being piped into the truck, but it's been posted a few times that it will be - we'll know soon enough. I run SW headers and have an extremely tame exhaust - less of an exhaust note than the stock 6.2L - so for me and my needs, quieter is somewhat better. I'd much rather the Gen 2 have the exhaust note closer to the current 3.5L - but I guess they need to differentiate themselves a bit. I don't hate the Gen2 personally. It has features I like and others that I don't - same as my Gen1 (yes, there are features / lack of features I don't like on the current Gen1). Mostly, it's the styling I can't get used to on the Gen2 - I'm sure it'll grow on me. The new engine I can't speak on, since I've never actually had the opportunity to drive it, let alone see it. Will it be better than the Gen1 from the factory? I would sure as hell hope so - companies aren't in the business of going backwards.

I don't think the exhaust note should be the biggest cause for concern like you said. But guys have preferences...can't knock someone for a preference.

    This is interesting:

"...the company hasn't yet released hard performance figures. So we pushed Hameedi for more information.

“You know how people were putting superchargers on the first generation Raptor? The new one can keep up with some of those,” the engineer reluctantly admitted. Both Roush and Hennessy bolted superchargers to first generation Raptors for consumers.

With the new Raptor having at least 450 bhp and 450 pound-feet of torque, which tuner truck will it keep up with? Pushed further, Hameedi said, “The Roush, the new Raptor will keep up with that.” And that should mean a 1/4-mile time in the 13 second range. That’s nearly as quick as the new Ford Mustang GT"

I don't like what I hear on the new one. However, I don't mind the sound of the current 3.5. Makes it rather stealthy - I can see what you're getting at though. Big burly truck = big burly exhaust note. The aftermarket really couldn't do much with the old 3.5...doubt that will change with the new ones.

One thing I will say, those exits / tips would have to go for me immediately. Mount the pipes high above the frame and dump them after the axle.

Will say, that's pretty interesting. I'm guessing he's comparing the dealer roush against the new one. I have no intention of a doing a 1/4 mile race in a truck, ever, so for me it's not an issue. But wouldn't mind seeing someone run them side by side.

I am not really about big burly truck (V8) sound since its not a V8. It's just my preference to have an exhaust note that sounds smooth and powerful or let it be stealthy. I don't like the rear exit ether with that said these things would not necessarily stop me from buying this or any vehicle. I still love my truck and I will enjoy seeing the new one on the street and the aftermarket developments.
