Do you notice a big difference in braking? I’m debating the upgrade. I have the same wheels, I went with the red ring but black looks good as well!!

I noticed you had the red ones on. Did you havev to re-balance when you switched them out?

I didn't re-balance never thought about it honestly, but yes I was using the red rings and with the brakes blacked looked better. And Yes there is a difference in the braking that those things will throw you through the windshield if your not careful.

Hey Plasterman where did you get the wheels from, I want to see if different color rings can be bought. Roush says they dont sell them.

I bought the rims early summer. I tried going through roush but they weren’t selling so I went through vision wheels, called nemesis 111, which is the actual maker of these rims. I believe roush is more of a magnetic gray in color as mine are black which I personally like more. The red ring I got through vision as well as the wheel only cane with the black protector. I wanted blue originally but back then they weren’t making anything other than red although they said they may in the future so it’s worth a shot now. Get in touch with vision directly for questions, they won’t sell to you direct but at least they can answer yes or no and give you a part number. Call the cali Office. They seemed to be the most knowledgeable about the beads. Hope this helps.

So wilwood it may be. Are the 6 piston? How much did they cost, where?
I was looking at brembos but can’t justify the cost as I’m not really upgrading engine much other than roush intake and Ford performance sport exhaust. I want to keep my factory warranty Good and not give them excuses just in case.

They are six piston, we purchased them off of stage 3 motor sports I believe, the fittings on the rear brake lines arent exact you will have to adapt those. I cannot remember the size the mechanic told me on the fittings.

20170823_193814.jpg I did the R1 setup and got it through Rick@ Freedom Motorsports. Now that R1 got their shit together with the lines, I would say it's a kick ass set up. You should at least check with Rick about pricing, which is less than comparable kits. I went with 405 front and 380 rear rotors which gave me 8 piston fronts and 6 piston rears. This truck stops like you wouldn't believe!

    Great posts!

New to forum and looking for a follow-up on both Wilwood and R1 BBKs.

With some run time on both of these now, how is the 10mos road results?

    Wear?
    Dust?
    Noise?
    Rust resistance?
Overall stopping performance improvement over time?
    Overall satisfaction?

After looking at all the Raptor BBK options, I am getting ready to pull the trigger on either Wilwood or R1 for my 2018. Any additional feedback on these two kits would be greatly appreciated.

Also Daniel, Wilwood still does not “officially” specify/certify a rear kit for gen 2 (only the front TX6R 140-1386 kit). Any issues with the REAR kit you provided the link for over the last year?

    Wear- yes they wear
dust- not bad actually, your results will vary on habits
    Noise- nope
Rust- yeah, when you wash, you need to dry them quick
stopping- oh yeah, stops like a fucking Ferrari... not. It does indeed stop really well for a 6000 pound brick. 100% better than stock.
Satisfied? for 5 grand, and a fair amount of my time, combined with the rims, they look sick IMHO. But hey, I'm a curb side Latte wimp, what do I know...

I have just over 6K miles on the truck, so I might not be the best reviewer, but the downside is that I can't go back to a smaller rim without changing the brakes out.

Thanks for the quick response, greatly appreciated.

Rust... when you wash them. Granted iron will oxidize when wet (even the higher carbon stuff), but are you getting the rust rings others have posted about with the R1? I hear they are now GeoMet coating their BBKs which should help.

Totally agree, you have one damn nice looking "6000 pound brick" with a killer looking $5k set of "shoes". Go drive/enjoy it ;)

    So overall... worth the investment?

I'm a new members and contemplating the wheel and brake upgrade. Are you all sticking with the 35" tires on the 20"s??
