What tire pressure are you running for the street?

I have been running around 39 PSI, a little bouncy over bumps. Maybe this is to be expected with big meats, but just wondering if a different pressure would smooth out the ride...

50 PSI ? are you pulling a heavy load ? Door sticker / Ford and BFG website recommend 38 psi cold for Raptor. A pound or 2 less for a slightly better ride but worse mpg and slightly more for the opposite.

 

Yeah, don't go off the tire. Go off driver's side door. 38 psi.

38 in summer now that it’s colder avg 34 in morning raises as you drive.rides better With lower psi.

 

Agreed, still working for sweet spot. 36 to 37 is my number. Any higher it is bouncy.

40 PSI when not towing. 50PSI when towing. 25 PSI when offroad (low speed desert / rocky trails).
The tire manufacturer knows their tires better than Ford in every case.
The vehicle manufacturers use a pressure that delivers the best ride while achieving CAFE fuel economy targets.

 

i dont know much about towing but i did speak directly to BFG about our KO2 tires on the Raptor. Most of the conversation was based around when to rotate (i posted that a while back - call it b/t 7500 and 8000 miles) but i did ask about pressure. He said the best ride for the truck on street is b/t 36 to 38. Yes Ford runs their mpg testing at 38 as posted in the door. I find 40 a little too bouncy but not unbearable. 50 on the street with no load seems crazy..

 

I just replaced the original tires at 37,500 miles on my 2017 raptor. I was at a 1 or 2 on that meter gauge discount tire uses to measure tread, meaning it was very low needing replacing . I milked it out

I don’t hotdog and rotate every 6-7k Miles

 

coming up on 25k on mine and rotate every 5k. They don't seem to wear as well as my goodyear duratracks did on my gen 1. probably go back to those when the KO's wear out.

 

I agree the tire manufacturer knows the tire, but ford knows the truck. They do all the tests on the truck WITH these exact tires and figure out what is best. That's why, in my opinion, it's best to replace your tires with the same ones. You can put these same tires on a wide range of different vehicles with different weights etc. Are you telling me that the same tire pressure is good on a Raptor as a Tacoma? Of course just my 2 cents.

 

Has anyone used the Toyo Open Country RT 37' 12.50 tires with the upgraded stock wheels? How much higher did you have to lift the front to prevent tire rubbing?
