HEY YALL, I'm wondering if there is anyone in Austin/Houston who is good with tech and can turn OFF the fake exhaust, and the double honk that ruins lives in my truck please! I'm starting to get really annoyed with it and I only Have apple products.... Thanks for halls help gents!
Shit - you are 1 week too late. I live in the northeast, but was down in Austin last week. I could of banged that out for you real quick. I feel it is worth the $80 or whatever for the OBD link since odds are good you will find yourself 'tinkering' with other stuff such as gauges, double honk, etc. Personally my favorite was killing the seat minders. man do I hate those.
errr...I just read that 'apple' comment - I was down in Austin a few months ago and accidentally ran into a Raptor group. "Central Texas Raptors" they meet once a month. FB search for them - they should be able to help you out.
I'm in same situation, if anyone in Houston wants to help with FORSCAN for my fake engine noise and double honk. I'm exclusively apple as well.........
2 ways to get Apple IOS to run windows - neither one are free and both require a little bit of work and computer knowledge. Easier / cheaper way to go is buy / run Parallels - 79.00 for a new license - allows you to run Windows software on MAC. Or bootcamp a portion of your hard drive - i took 100gb of my 500gb drive and bootcamp-ed it. You will need a full working version of Windows (whatever) I use 10. So the bootcamp software is already on your Mac but you will need a copy of Windows - I borrowed one from a friend. Then you can run download and run any windows software. I know that not ideal but just a thought.. All in all - easier to find a friend with a Windows laptop and just buy the OBD MX bluetooth adaptor. I leave mine plugged into the port. There are some apps your can run on your phone (both Android and Apple) that are pretty cool. Diagnostics, MPG, 0 to 60.. blah blah..
i Appreciate this reply..... but it is exactly all the steps id like to avoid, as 87.2% of what you said might as well have been in cantonese brother! im sadly way behind the computer curve for my age..... ok, ill start at $100 for this help!
If you don't have this banged out by second week in Nov - let me know I will be down there the 7-9th and would just need to bring the OBD link.
Your dealer should take care of it for free. Just ask... mine did it np... actually they never heard of the fake exhaust sound before I asked they were all cracking up in service ...
Pencil me in! Every dealer I have asked about it had no idea. I was a little hesitant to let them do it to mine since I would be guinea pig, and on top of that none would do it for free..........
Ok. Ill bring the link and make sure the forescan is up to date when I come down. I will be staying at the Renaissance over on Aboretum. It will have to be in the evening or very first thing n the AM since I will be booked during the day. Wednesday would the best, or Thursday AM. I fly out on Thursday afternoon.
