Ok so I only have driven about 40 miles (back from the dealership). Played with just about everything I can. Couple of notes and questions from my initial thoughts. (I will be running a ton of errands today, so I will be a little more hands on with her today) 1) why did they bury the heated steering wheel button? 2) Anyone know how to enable automatic mirror folding when you shut off the truck? I mean really this thing is wide, I dont want people slamming into my mirrors because they walked by it. 3) Brakes are far better then I expected. I was actually shopping for new rotors and calipers based upon so many bad reviews of the brakes. So far so good. 4) transmission is a breeze, I don't even notice it. 5) Steering blows. 6) fake engine noise, I didnt notice. I had 16 miles on the truck, so Ive been gentle with the throttle. and will be for the next 984 miles. So 2 questions for the group: 1) anyone know how to enable the auto folding mirrors? (yes - I know there is a hack in the computer, just looking for something that should make sense on a $70k truck that is as wide as a trailer home) 2) Anyone notice steering sucks? Let me clarify: going around a bend, I have the nice tightness on the wheel and usually around the apex of the bend the wheel goes soft. It might be a combination of steering setting and lane keeping assist, I don't know. But the first negative I noticed. And more annoying then the fake engine noise.
As far as I know the folding mirrors isn't an option. Blows because my wife's 16 Explorer does it so I assumed my 17 Raptor would. As for steering, I haven't noticed it. But I do not have the lane assist. Once again the explorer does, but i don't like it so I passed on those options.
1) Buy gloves, problem solved. 2) it's not a standard feature on our software build, You have to go in via Forescan and turn it on. 5) Turn off the lane assist and try all 3 of the steering wheel settings. Remember there's a bit of drive by wire at play here so it will feel different at first. 6) it's there you just don't realize how much is there. Turning it off makes night and day difference for the audio system and sound quality. The natural sound actually sounds better......
Turns out it was the lane keeping assist. Steering is normal. Sucks the mirrors don't auto close. Damn it, there goes $80 for the connector and garage hacking.
NexMaster, you driving my truck? No issues on turn even driving 2 1/2 foot of snow and mud at 25mph with diff lock and no issue. Maybe I like my turns tight like I like my women.
Haha. I am guessing you like your women tight and a little extra in the back with that SCREW. I just have the SCAB. But great taste! I prefer tight steering. Been driving sports cars for years. First truck. Decided to go big or go home.
Switch over to Sport for the steering wheel and see if it feels any better for your taste. Think of the $80 for the Bluetooth OBD connector as an Audio system upgrade and you get folding mirrors + other options as a bonus!!!!!!
The steering I figured out - it was the LKA. It was really frustrating to have you wheel go limp and oversteer all of a sudden. I know, the OBD is on a very short list. Dealing with all the regular items first. Like a tonneau cover, bed liner, etc. I have plenty of time to futz about with it. Man do I love her though! what a ride!!
Put a post out under the Forescan thread to see who in your area has the OBD and can take care of this for a beer.......
