I purchased my 2017 Raptor about a month ago and really like it so far. I've noticed the coolant temperature runs quite a bit higher than my 2016 Limited. Is it normal to see 223F during normal country driving conditions?

OK, thanks guys. I'll be towing a 7K TT this summer and want to know if I'm ok with that temp.

Intercoolers typically have no impact on coolant temps. They cool the charged air coming into your intake. A radiator upgrade would be a better suggestion.

Yah you should be fine. Coolant doesn't usually boil until temps above 250 anyway.

Just curious where you guys get the coolant temperature reading from. I looked everywhere and I have everything except actual coolant temp. I have cylinder head temp, but not coolant. Did this change for 2019?

    I am using Forscan.

I ordered the 170F thermostat and will install that before I head out to test the trailer. If the temp still climbs to an uncomfortable level, I'll upgrade the radiator.

    Thank you for the replies.

Modern vehicles are designed to run hot, if the engine is designed to run @ 220 running it @ 170 may be harmful as the metals don't expand all they should producing excessive wear., combustion may become less efficient etc. In theory a well designed engine considers all this factors and if the engineers put a 200 or 220 thermostat in there that's the temp it should run at, just my 2 cents.

Agreed, which is one of the reasons why I questioned the cooler thermostat. Speaking with the owners that have installed the 170 thermostat, it allows the engine to operate around 200F under normal driving conditions.
