I'd be in the market for one of these beasts, but I wouldn't be willing to spend 10k more for it. The article I read was thinking 15k more than the eco, and that's crazy imo.

It is nice that there will now be a new engine available for this. It will open up quite a bit of demand now.

The right tweeks to the 3.5TT will get you close to 600HP anyway, and will do it at near any elevation. I don't really see the need for the V8 anymore, to be honest.

I'm not one of those haters on the eco, but I do miss a V8 rumble. $15k worth of a miss, I don't think so.

Shelby has the eco putting out 600hp.

A super charged V8 I would guess would keep its power as well as the eco at altitude.

They also miss being first at the finish line, at nearly anything that a Raptor is supposed to do well. The Gen II's are just superior vehicles all the way around, but other than Gen II's, the Gen I's are still the hottest thing to have. They should take solace in that at least. ;-)

That is not the issue. You do realize the inherent design issues of the ecoboost that cause it to have a huge failure rate and high rate of buyer remorse. The cam phaser failure is a prime example. It is a design issue that all will fight at some point. The company researching the problem and designing a fix has also stated this was a Ford design problem. These things have too many problems. A new, redesigned engine will fix that.
Plus, the 3.5 ecoboost is at the end of its run. It is already being replaced in other platforms with the 3.0 eco. The trucks/expedition are the users that will run it out.

So you're saying... there are known issues with the 3.5 ecoboost (an engine that has been around since 2011), but Ford failed to address them? Especially when they redesigned it for 2017. Plus, they put it in several other vehicles (including a supercar and top of the line trucks). Ford just ignored the design flaws? Ummm, no.

so just to be clear this bravo clown is a complete troll and he has nothing good to say about the 3.5 motor ever. He also doesn't even own a raptor!!! So take that into consideration when bantering with this re re...

Correct - this cam phaser problem roots all the way back to 2011. You can see the million attempts that Ford made to fix it. They tried part redesign and also tuning to somehow get the oil flow to the phasers before starting. None have worked. There is an aftermarket company that discovered the root cause, made updated parts, and is finishing testing now. The downside is that this will be a $4k repair that every ecoboost owner will have to do.
Also, 3.5 eco is being phased out. It is just in trucks and expedition now. The 3.0 eco replaces all other 3.5 application.
