Hey guys, just wanted to share that I'm the proud new owner of a 2019 Agate Black Screw Raptor! I also want to share my new ownership story. I'll try to keep it short, but it probably won't be possible. I had always wanted a Raptor since they first came out. Even more so when gen2 hit. So I saved a bit of money and waited for the market to settle down. It was a painful wait, but I made it through. This past Saturday was finally going to be the day! I was going to purchase and drive home my dream truck!

I did a lot of inventory research and I found two on the lot of a local dealer that were base models. That was all I was interested in. I didn't have the budget for a fully loaded 802A at $70K+. Even an 801A wasn't my cup of tea. I'm fine with cloth seats. The only thing I may miss is the front LSD. The two trucks I had to choose from were identical. Both black, both base models. I spoke with a salesman and made it happen. Easiest deal I ever did with a car salesman. No haggling. Got it for a little bit under MSRP. I traded my 18 Mustang GT (I did take a hit), but oh well. They don't hold their value at all, it seems. But I got what I needed to get for it. Anyhow, I picked out one of the two trucks. I went with the one that only had 6 miles on it. (The other had like 30). So I waited, did the paperwork, and got super psyched to get the beast on the road.

When i finally got on the road, I made it 15 miles down the interstate when the high engine temp light came on. Right after, a CEL popped up and the truck lost all power. I barely got it off the road. I cannot describe the feeling that I had after experiencing that. I was sick to my stomach. It was like a nightmare. How could this happen? I phoned the dealer in a panic and talked to the sales manager. He immediately sent out the only mechanic on duty.

In the mean time, I found that the engine was covered in coolant, as was the entire passenger side of the cab and bed. The coolant reservoir was empty. When the mechanic arrived, he ended up finding one of the coolant lines didn't have a clamp installed and blew off. He brought me back in his vehicle to the dealership. (Now this was all happening at 430 pm and the dealer closes at 5pm.) I was greeted by the sales manager upon arrival and he was very apologetic. He then asked me how I wanted to proceed with the truck. I simply told him that I was upset and wanted the other truck instead of getting the broken one fixed. He said, "no problem." So I waited until they prepped the other truck, re-did all of the paperwork and finally made it out of there around 7 pm.

Overall, I must say that the dealership was super cool about the whole situation. It really wasn't their fault that the factory screwed up. They definitely wanted to make sure I was happy though. Everyone stayed a few hours late after they closed, finishing up all of the prep and paperwork, just to make sure I could go home in a new Raptor as planned. The sales manager told me that I handled the situation better than 99 % of the population would have. All in all, it was worth it to me! I finally got what I waited so long for. And the truck does not disappoint.

    Wow that’s crazy. Beautiful truck!

You purchased one of the most expensive vehicles on their lot, I’m sure they of course treated you well because they want you to return down the road! Glad you like it

That's quite an experience you went through to get your truck and the dealership did the right thing.

    Congrat's on the new Raptor!

How very strange! Ford must have had the same guy install your coolant clamp as they did mine. I too had the Engine Temp light come on, after 3K miles. Turns out that a coolant return line to the radiator had not had the clamp properly installed. I was driving home one day and noticed a white cloud coming from behind my truck. Shortly after I noticed that I perceived that the temp was rising fast. I limped home at 15mph and called the dealer. The next day their truck arrived to carry my ride in for "Scheduled" repair. 4 days later it was returned to me in good order. It's a shame it took them 4 days to get around to doing a 15min. repair job that did not even need new parts to affect.

Other than this minor inconvenience though, this truck is AWESOME! Sure am glad I was not out in the desert when the coolant line finally came loose. That could have been tragic.
