I have a quick question about my 2017 Raptor's transmission. My truck has about 22,000 miles on it and I don't remember it doing this before but in the last month or so every time I back the truck up, I come to a complete stop, shift the truck into Drive and before I remove my foot from the break it jerks forward. It does this more violently when the truck is cold but it still does this when its warmed up as well. Should I be worried? Should I take my truck to the dealer? no check engine lights are on. Also does your truck still shift rough in sport mode? I haven't driven it in sport mode a lot but when I do it shifts really rough.. thanks for all your help.
Yes in sport mode, no on the reverse to forward but I find it backwards. When I put my truck in reverse it doesn't move for a good second or sec before moving after pressing the guy. Get a transmission update, I have heard any truck not built after May of 2018 has a TSB for ECM update for the transmission. Hope this helps
Own both Gen 1 and Gen 2 Raptors. 68k on the 2017 model. The suggestion of the dealer looking into a software update on the transmission is a good one. The rough shifting in sport mode has never gone away. Hoping to see the Raptor Ranger in Sidney next week. Curious if it’s a possible next truck. I sat in the Ranger last weekend at the Detroit Auto show. The cab had a lot of room and driver seat as good. The truck in Australia has a diesel option as well. Let us know what the dealer says on the trans.
It will be a while before I go to the dealer again, so it might be a few months until I reply, but I will definitely follow up.
Ok, so I got my dealer to do that TSB PCM and TCM flash and update for my tranny. My truck feels brand new again. Even my shift points are different as I dont even hit 10th gear until 50mph plus which was 45 before the update. Not sure what is has done or how long it will last but reset the computer callibrations and will need to learn my driving style but totally worth it. Shifts like butter now in normal and sport not that mine was that bad. But on the downshifting, way nicer and easier compared to before.
Thanks Adam. Can you tell us what year and miles on your truck? I need to start bugging my dealer for the same update if I'm close to your year and mileage.
2017, just over 31k, definitely do it. Apparently Ford finally got this right for the update. I can provide the TSB number for your dealer when I get home and relook at my dealer paperwork.
same year and mileage as mine . Yes plz and info would be appreciated. I called my dealer and they were going to check into the updates so any info would be helpful.
Ok guys, the TSB number on my 17 was TSB 18-2079 was in the paperwork. PCM and TCM updates. Call yall dealers and tell them that TSB number and say it is for 17s as well.
