Hi, I am knew to this forum and I am not sure if this is correct place to post this, but does anyone else feel like they got a lemon? I waited 8 months for this truck and was very excited to get it, but after my initial inspection I feel like I got a lemon and I am pretty disappointed in the quality of workmanship for a limited production SVT vehicle. Most of my problems are cosmetic in nature so not that big of a deal and maybe I am being too critical but, when I pay full sticker price on a truck and don’t negotiate anything I expect a little better.

Issues Thus Far: 1) The windshield came scratched on my Raptor. I noticed this a few days after I bought it but there’s a 4 inch scratch on the left side of my windshield. The dealership offered to replace it but I don’t want to mess with the seals and replace a windshield on a truck that was only a week old.

    2) The Driver side muffler hangs a few inches lower than the passenger side muffler. It’s not loose or anything so I don’t know why it does this. Haven’t talked to the dealership about this just yet, but probably will soon. Does anyone else’s muffler hang lower on one side than the other?

    3) I got the super crew and some of the door handles seem like they’re loose or wobble more than others. Is this normal? Am I being too picky?

    4) The truck jerks sometimes when the transmission changes gears on soft acceleration. This is the first car/truck I’ve had that has more than 180HP and, also the first rear wheel drive vehicle I’ve owned, so for the longest time I thought this jerking was due to my truck having too much torque and my tires slipping. However, I’ve noticed that this happens when the transmission changes gears and occurs when the transmission is skipping gears, like going from 3rd gear to 5th gear or 5th to 7th. Does anyone else have this happen? Is this a known issue with gen of raptors? I plan on bringing my truck into the dealership to take a look at this as well.

Otherwise the truck is incredible and I am extremely happy with my purchase I just wish it wouldn’t have these issues, unless I am being too picky? This is also the first car/truck I’ve bought instead of leasing in a long time as well so before imperfections didn’t bother me because it technically wasn’t “my” car/truck.

    What do you guys think?

First off the 2nd gens aren't SVT, they are Ford Performance.

To me a lemon has mechanical, electrical, or similar issues. That does not sound like your case other than the transmission, which I have some similar issues in mine. (I simply say that is the GM portion of the tranny.) I think many of us are hoping Ford is going to do a flash to fix this and many other minor complaints of this transmission.

Let the dealer fix what you don't like. If you aren't allowing it to be fixed, than you shouldn't be complaining about it. And I would do it sooner than later do they don't feel like you did something to the truck and blaming Ford.

Wow, sorry to hear what your dealer delivered to you. No, you shouldn't have any of these issues at all!!!!!! Notify your dealer and also call Ford Performance direct.

Vikes and I both got our trucks fairly early and i'm >10k mi already on mine. No, i've had no tranny issues with how it shifts or anything else. it's been very smooth and even with the JMS Peddle Max it sharpens up the shifts but still smooth.

Yes, sound's like someone didn't do their job at the factor when it was being quality checked and your local dealer didn't so their job either before presenting you with your truck. Sounds all like minor issues but when you drop $70k you should have no issues!!!!

Again sorry to hear but can only say that i hope once you get past these minor issues you can back to enjoying what a great truck this really is. I've been problem free and mine is everything and more then what i hoped for.

unless you put the trans into sport mode, it will skip shift. Have you tried driving for a day in sport mode and see how the truck acts? And no Vikes, it's not the GM side, it's the Ford side....
As for the muffler hanging down, and the other issues, like Vikes said- if you don't tell the dealer, you might as well piss up a rope. Go tell them asap.

as said if you don't like something , have them fix it . as for window seal , if they put a new one in and it leaks have that fixed too.

thanks for the reply guys. I do love my truck and would buy another one in a heart beat. I think they're worth every penny. I also agree with you all that these are minor issues, however, like one of you mentioned they still shouldn't be there. I am scheduling an appointment with the service department to look at the transmission and the muffler.

Would you guys get the windshield replaced if it was scratched on your truck? It's 3 to 4 inches long but a thin scratch so barely noticeable and it's on the side of the windshield so not in the direct line of vision. I honestly don't know what to do about that. The dealer said they would replace it, but I'd hate them replacing it and then me getting a chip from a rock off the highway. Maybe if they would let me keep the old windshield as a back up, but I doubt they would do that.

Anyway I just wanted to see what other owners experience was and what you guys would do in my situation.

I would get the windshield replaced. I have had mine done...twice. The original got pitted by a truck on 95 that was blowing sand over the top. The replacement had a defect and needed to be changed. So, I am on my third. No issues at all.

I do not know what package that you have on your truck, but if you have the lane sensing option, you will need to have the dealership re-calibrate the camera....

    Best of luck!

In Wyoming you get rock chips like mad in the winter so I wouldn't bother. Then again, it's a free windshield. But chances are I wouldn't worry about it. Best of luck. .

Agree with others here - let the dealer fix the muffler and windshield and ask them to look at door handles. My truck shifts oddly when in sport mode. Sometimes it feels like it just wants to hang out in 4th or 6th gear revving unnecessarily, but then again I did switch it into "sport mode". It feels WAY different than my Gen1, and maybe my expectations are off because it's such a radically different design, but I still think something is off with the tranny.

A few things, review lemon laws by state. Although yours is cosmetic and fixable things in general, always get it into dealer early so that paper trail is generated. I've been pleased to find ford in general has a pretty robust and considerate customer service department .. they aren't stupid. Truck market is fierce and they want to keep people that walk into dealers and buy raptors.

In regards to the situation that seems most concerning:
    The pedal response

Two things have occurred in my truck
    1. Turbo lag can feel
Weird. In that second or two when it doesn't seem to respond to a deep pedal push... it's natural to push harder. I've noticed this a few times. It tends to launch with a huge momentum seemingly coinciding with the turbo spool. It feels weird and seems to fit what you are saying. This turbo lag seemed to disappear when i put the intake and mid pipes on.
Sport mode also seemed to make the response way sharper.
(Baja mode switched back to 2 wheel drive is a little trick to really make it ridiculous)

Anyways. Sorry you have those inconviences, find my story about my past month or two
With mine if you want to vomit haha. Mine comes back
    Tommorrow.

Brapptor: To select 2WD in Baja mode are you using the manual selector (2H 4A 4H 4L) or is there more to the trick than that?

I've always felt like the "lag" was more a function of multi gear transmissions than the turbo(s) since I have vehicles with 6, 7 and 8 speed automatics that all lag (at low to mid speeds) when you really step on it it unless they are in sport mode which keeps them in lower gears at low to mid speeds. Interesting that you had an effect by changing intake and outflow. Lag is really annoying and potentially dangerous.

My truck has a weird, very slight lunge when the trans is shifting at very slow speeds. It only does this when I accelerate slowly and the trans skip shifts.

That's exactly what mine does.. Is that normal/how it should be? I am taking mine to the dealership next Tuesday to get it checked out.

My tailpipes came cockeyed from the factory as well, except my passenger side hung slightly lower. The hangers were all in place and fully connected, just looked like the rear-most hanger, just behind the bumper had a slightly different angle than the driver side.

Rather than take it to the dealer and exchange this minor cosmetic issue for a dealer installed dent and two scratches, I laid under the truck and gave the hanger a couple open-palm punches. Seemed to align the exhaust where it's supposed to be. A rubber mallet would work as well if you own one.

Quick update, went to the dealer, the muffler was just not aligned from the factory. Too me this seems very sloppy poor quality control, on what is supposed to be a limited production special order vehicle, and thus I am pretty disappointed in the Ford Performance branding and will probably never buy another car from them again, and just lease them in the future that way things will remain under warranty and I'll return the car before any major issues arise.

The transmission was tested with a computer and the guy put on 6 miles on the odometer and drove my truck like he stole it, because the MPG on the truck dropped a little. They said because of the adaptive transmission and my truck only having 3,000 miles on it they said the transmission is still getting used to and learning the way I drive.

As for the windshield I know everyone is saying replace it, however, the scratch is so thin I hardly notice it thus for now I am choosing not to replace the windshield for now.

And the door handles are just as loose on other F150's on the lot.

By the way any of you guys doing the Raptor wave? It's like the Wrangler Wave but for Raptor owners, so not done as often.
