I just looked at the March issue of Shooting Illustrated. The issue has an article about Kimber's Micro 9 Raptor. I know some of you guys are gun lovers, so you might want to carry a Raptor inside your Raptor. My dealer has stated I'm second in line for an allocation and the first one was already delivered. I ordered 10/16, so maybe in April for a delivery. Meanwhile I continue to read and dream.
I've heard that the older Kimbers like that are the good stuff and the newer ones ain't what they used to be. Though I'm no 1911 expert (though I do own a Springfield Loaded).
I ve got a couple Kimbers - new and old - all very reliable 1911. I carry 9mm Kimber Aegis ultra everyday. Kimber has a whole line of Raptor 1911's from the Micro 9mm up to the 5 inch Grand Raptor .45. I also Have a Grand Raptor (full size 5 inch) not much of a carry gun because of size and weight ( full stainless) but the thing is a nail driver.. and 1 inch groups at 50 feet all day. ill post up a pick when I get home later..
Ordered in Oct and hoping for delivery in Apr!? That's crazy. I ordered mine December 10-ish. Got a build Date Feb 3rd. Supposed to be delivered March 7-13th. But it arrived at the dealer on Wed, picked it up yesterday! So weird the process is so mixed up.
First, that truck looks great Redtime. My order is also the lightning blue but a Scab model. To the Kimber owners - I understand your appreciation. My only experience with Kimber is a .22 Hornet rifle. A lot of folks gave them a bad rap, but I have nothing but praise. Loading a 45gr. Nosler on top of Winchester 680 powder(no longer made), I covered 6 shots with a dime. Not too bad out a sporter barrel. Range time with it gives me something to do while waiting............ and waiting.
I can only find the Micro "Raptor" in 380 and 9. So your order date was 3 days earlier than mine and I don't have a build dateyet. Is your dealer a big volume truck dealer? My dealer can't seem to give me any info. When I read about Redtime's timeline, I get frustrated.
If I was betting I'm going to say no but that's from memory and might have smoked that one away already
none of the Kimber Raptor models, i think there are like 8 or 9, come in .40 all come in .45 and few smaller ones in 9mm. Kimber did just start making a few 1911 in 10mm. Hard to find a 1911 in .40 - i know SIG makes ones but its a match gun, not really a carry piece..
Kimber makes some of the most accurate and reliable pistols ive ever owned or fired. Granted its no Wilson Combat but still a damn fine firearm..
