Pretty sure that I know the answer to these questions based on the testing/research, but it never hurts to double or triple check.

iPhoneXS with IOS 12.1. Using Apple USB cable.

    1. Carplay - when using Carplay, is there any way to set the map button(s) from the home screen to *not* use Apple Maps? Carplay is fine, doesn't bug me, but I don't use Apple Maps. It's an annoyance that when using Carplay, selecting the Nav icon puts you into Apple Maps - where I then have to close Apple Maps to get to the Carplay version of Waze or Google Maps. If I had my druthers, I would be perfectly happy with the Nav icon launching the Sync Nav - or having a choice to do so.

    2. As an alternative to the Carplay annoyance, I disabled Carplay to use the Sync applink Waze integration. While I can get it to work, it's stupid that for Waze to work as the Sync nav app, my iPhone *must* be unlocked and *must* have Waze as the foreground app. Anyone have a different experience - if so, what/how did you do? The other problem that I'm running into is when using Waze as the Sync nav app, it is stuttery, slow, and will often lock up - making it useless. I've tried updating both on the phone and via the Sync app update request, but no joy.

While I'm at it, other than just learning to deal with it, is there a way to turn off the double prompt when using the Sync voice commands? In other words, you press the button and get a tone (button press ack?) and then you get a second tone when you are supposed to speak. Why...? I'm trying to train myself, but as this is my first Sync/Ford experience, I keep finding myself starting to talk after the first tone.

I've had the same experience using the Waze Sync applink integration. It's better/more stable when it's running off CarPlay.

Definitely so, but just not that big a fan of the Carplay integration in the Ford, takes over too much, and the lack of a hard 'home' button to get out really sucks. This is my first Ford, so maybe I'm just used the GMC way (and their hard button for home).
