With ford so worried about people’s acceptance of a V6 and losing the V8 in our Gen II trucks I seriously think ford did everything they could to make the V6 closer to the Gen1. Ya think Ford didn’t build and test many different configurations to get the most throat from the Eco-Boost? Ford had way WAY more time to develop than the aftermarket has. The fact that ford resorted to cheat and use the stereo to generate the fake engine note to help owners except it & be happy with it. All of the Ford shop guys & managers I know that have installed practically every aftermarket System avail on customers trucks and they’ve all agreed that they sounded worse, louder & different... Yes but not better. Of course the guys that just shelled out hundreds of dollars to purchase it have all said “he’ll yeah man thanks that sounds cool” but I kinda think it’s just owners not wanting to admit they may have made a mistake and then cling to the “well it makes more Hp than factory”
I personally don’t mind the sound at all & think it’s the best sounding V6 I’ve owned. The Raptors Eco-Boost power is the new benchmark that all other trucks have to compare against.
I’m option to opinions but am I completely off my rocker thinking the GenII Raptors V6 is the new sound of factory truck Performance.

    What do you guys think??

I think the “Big American V8s” days are numbered. Even Ferrari engineers went on record at one point essentially saying they’d rather close up shop than start using turbos. The reality is, it’s the only way to build big power with meeting emissions restrictions placed on today’s production vehicles. Do I think it lame to pump fake noise in? Absolutely. But in our Kardashian world, is there anything real anymore? Haha. It sure seems like a cop out when you do such a thing. But BMW is guilty of the same practice. Personally, I grew up in an area where you’d be around rice rockets and other Imports so the V6 doesn’t bother me one bit. But, it’s just a matter of time where that pushrod v8 will be a dinosaur. So with my little nonsensical opinion, I’d rather lose a performance v8 than a performance truck, in its entirety.

I think you love it or you don't. V8 guys are goin to love their engines and Ecoboost guys are going to love their engines. I don't have any complaints about the Ecoboost. Plenty of power minus the towing aspect. But if I needed to tow everyday I would have a diesel.
I agree with the after market exhaust, if I was 16 years old I would probably have a Borla put on. Although I do like what I've heard about the Ford Performance exhaust.

Well we know the EcoBoost can make a lot more power, just look at the GT’s power output (647 hp & 550 lb⋅ft) want more power find out the difference between its EcoBoost & the Raptors and follow it’s recipe.

For now I’m happy with my Raptor as is, it’s currently the best on the road. When companies actually spend devolpment time on their probuct I’ll pass. Seems all of them so far are just trying to get something out into the market as fast as possible.

Highest differences between the Raptor & GT’s engine:
    Larger Turbochargers
    Stronger Rotating Assembly
    Camshafts
    Drysump Oil System
    Aluminum Intake Manifold

That reliable 200hp improvement is going to cost a small fortune but it can be done.

It’s really gonna cost you gas thou, the EPA is saying the car returns 11 mpg city, 18 highway and 14 combined WOW now imagine the same setup in our big heavy trucks. My trucks currently getting 16 combined

Thing that I hear alot is the difference in sound between the normal V8 and the V6 Eco is huge. I love hearing the rumbling of the V8. Could you get close to that with a souped up exhaust?

I had both G1 and now the G2.. while I loved the roar of the 8... I accept the 6 for what it is... I had the dealer turn off the fake noise also.. I prefer to hear my engine as is... I do have to say that the G2 is better than the G1 in a lot of ways.. the change in noise is acceptable and still cool under viaduct racing
