I had got the Retrax PRO MX installed the other week. Man do I love it! keeps the water out as well. my only gripe is it does take up a lot of space in the bed. but frankly I dont need that much space back there. It is just nice to have a bed to put shit in. Or make a spur of the moment decision to buy something big and not have to worry about getting it home.
Going with the Roll n Lock A series http://rollnlock.com/truck-bed-products/a-series#filter/2017/Ford/F-150/65.63 Install scheduled for 6/24
So one thing I would take into consideration here, that cover has a strap to pull it closed. The retrax does not. It just slides easily with one hand. No straps to get in the way. And you can close off your bed in any position (1/2 way, etc.)
Um yes there's a strap or you just pull it closed by the metal lip that runs across the back like all the other rolling covers like this. I've looked at the Retrax and some others and the material quality and feel of plastic slats just didn't leave me feeling like it was the right build quality and level of security i wanted. This type of cover, there's multiple manufactures making them and all have their own spin to it. I can't really say any of them truly blows them all away as they are all similar. Roll n Lock is coming out with an E version of this soon but i can't wait longer for that. Have a 4th of July trip and need the coverage/protection in place by then otherwise i'd wait for that to come out. My lazy ass can pull the strap.......
Plastic? No mine is full aluminum with a 500# rating. I'd feel a little weird walking on it, so I've never tested that out. I got mine for $1700 installed from line-x.
any bed cover that sits above the side rails looks like dog shit IMO.. fucking screams grocery getter..
