Brought home my new '18 Raptor last night and the Headlights are WAY too high. They need aimed down about a 1/2 to 1 turn. Went out just now to aim them, found the aiming screw and it just won't budge. It'll turn about an 1/8-1/4 turn in either direction, then it feels like it binds up, and if I try to force it, something feels like it's gonna break. Does this on both headlights. I mean it gets tight enough that the whole adjuster moves or wiggles on the rear of the housing when trying to aim up or down, and if you try too hard, it's gonna break right off the housing. I've never had an adjuster be like this. Is this just how they are on these trucks, or is there some kind of "lock" or "keeper" that needs removed?
So here's what the back of the Housing looks like. I guess that bottom adjuster is seized up or something, and that "bar" that connects the Lows & Highs is what I feel kinda of twisting, like a Torsion Bar, and if I try too hard, that is what's gonna snap. I'll give it a look tomorrow in the daylight and see if I see any Crud or something on that lower adjuster. Maybe get some WD40 to trickle down there and loosen things up.
Dude, you've had it one day. Take it to the dealer and let them mess with it. If something breaks it's their problem.
I do all my own work. I only let someone else work on my vehicles unless it's absolutely necessary. So, with that being said.... Hit the adjuster and "connecting rod" with some WD40, and it loosened right up!
I had the same exact problem. I knew my warranty wouldn’t cover it if I broke it, so I relented and took it to the dealer. Since I frequently carry a load in the bed or tow my camper, I asked them to put some weight on the tailgate and set the lights a bit lower than the spec. It took them a half day once they started - so not sure what they did, but. The lights are now perfect, I am no longer blinding oncoming drivers and I can see perfectly... -edit- I tried the WD40 also and managed only one turn of the screws and they needed like 10!
Yeah, about 1 out of every 50 people I pass flash their lights at me so my low beams are probably a little high too. To save me a little time, looking at the lights from the back (like you see the photo above), which way did you turn the screw to lower the beam?
